Nails Inc Special Effects Nail Polish Pudding Lane, Topping Lane

Nails Inc Special Effects Nail Polish (5 GBP for 10ml)   Nails Inc is a fashion forward UK brand that makes some really innovative nail polish.  It is one of the trend setters introducing new finishes and textures.

Packaging – The normal nails inc bottles are cylindrical and come with a sliver cap.  Nails Inc Special Effects Nail Polish have a picture of a cup cake on the cap – aligning with the sprinkles theme of the shades.  The brush is a normal sized and makes application easy.

Shade –

Nails Inc Special Effects Nail Polish Topping Lane:  This is a pink with tiny fuchsia, purple, silver and white glitters.  The pink does really look a lot like the shade of strawberry icing.  The glitters are really dense and don’t need to be fished out during application.

Nails Inc Special Effects Nail Polish Pudding Lane:  This is a light blue with blue, lilac and gold glitters suspended.  The blue is a little darker than a baby powder blue.  The cupcake design on the lid shows the same colored icing.

Once applied, the effect is that of icing with a lot of sprinkles.  Yummy!

Texture and Formula – Since Nails Inc Special Effects Nail Polish is a very dense glitter, the formula is on the thicker side, however I did not find the need to thin it before using.   The polish flows easily and you get substantial glitter coverage in just one coat.  To achieve complete opacity and make sure there is no VNL (Visible Nail Line), you will need two coats of polish.

Both polishes have a crème base but this does not cover the glitters at all. The impact of the sprinkles is very much as desired.    Some glitter polishes need you to work with the brush so the glitters are placed evenly over the nail, not in this case, you can apply it like a normal crème and the glitters spread evenly across.

Drying time is pretty fast, though I do use a quick dry top coat most times.

Staying Power – Most glitters do stay on longer – this lasts on me for 3 to 4 days.  You need to note that I am very harsh on my hands and most polishes don’t last longer than 48 hours on me.   Removal, of course is a major head ache as with all glitters.  I soak a cotton in remover and hold it on each nail for 30 seconds to a minute.  That normally works well.  If you have healthy nails, you can even use pure acetone, this works fastest and best.

Overall Thoughts

While I love the effect, I wish the base colours were a little on the sheer side.  Nails Inc Special Effects Nail Polish would look a lot better on a teenager.  For now, I use these on my toes mainly.  The formula is really good, so I definitely see some more age appropriate polishes from this brand in my future.
