My Envy Box January 2016 Unboxing Review

I am now almost mid-way into my one year Envy box subscription.  A certain amount of boredom has crept in, and even though most of the boxes are usable for the greater part, I am not sure I get a kick out of seeing the contents any more.

The January My Envy Box is far better value for money than the last 2 boxes and yet, I don’t think I’ll use most of the stuff in it.  A lot has to do with personal preferences, but I just think they would’ve given the box a wee bit more thought.

Here’s what I got

L’Oreal Paris Glamshine Lip crayon, Litchee lust 911 Full size Rs 475 – This one single item covers over half the cost of the full box and is normally enough to get me satisfied.  In fact I love lip products so when I saw this as a teaser, I was thrilled.  Unfortunately I think everyone got the same shade, Litchee lust.  The product itself is not new – which leads me to believe that this was sitting on the back burner for a while with no one really wanting to pick up this shade.  Litchee lust goes on almost clear – like a transparent gloss.  As it is a crayon it is not really easy to layer on darker shades.  I have a few other clear glosses / crayons (one from an earlier Envy box itself).  I just wish boxes would mix things up and give different shades.  I remember Fab bag giving me only Red lip colours, and now Envy box has decided I only need nude?? This has already been given to someone who prefers muted shades.

Skin yoga Oats and Roses Facewash – (Full size 50 gm Rs 1450) – This is a sample sized product – though I’m not sure of the actual quantity received.  It is a powdered facewash, you are supposed to mix a spoonful with a small amount of water and then use to massage all over your face.  I will try this in the next few days, though according to me there is only enough for 2 to 3 washes

CK Eternity Now for women – Vial (Full size 50ml – Rs 3800) – Another vial sample, groan.  I wish they would give something a little more in quantity, but I’m not really complaining here as I get to sample new fragrances.  I tried this out and even though I don’t care much about the original CK Eternity, I quite like this one.

O3+ Whitening Day cream SPF 15. (Full size 50gm – Rs 775) – I have received two small tubes of 10ml each.  We got the mask last month and this month the day cream.  I don’t much care for whitening and brigtening products.  These have also been promised to someone who will use them.

Mantra Kokkum and Pistachio winter care lotion – Full size 100ml, Rs 495 – I have not heard of this brand in the past but it looks like everyone these days is coming up with an “organic themed brand, selling lotions and potions alike.  I did like the scent of this lotion though, so I have kept it aside to try out.

3 out of 5 should not be bad for a beauty box, I just wish I was more excited about the 3 products that I am going to use.  These are more of the “ho-hum” let me throw this into my stash and figure if I’ll ever use category.

Overall Thoughts

Yes, I’m very very bored with subscription boxes.  I don’t know if they have been here that long, but it just doesn’t seem like something I will continue in the future.  Envy box has some value for money boxes and if you are just beginning to dabble in the world of beauty, then, by all means, go get yourself a subscription.  But if you have stockpiles of makeup and skincare, they may be worth skipping.
