As per MUA

Everything from nudes to bolds, MUA’s matte lipsticks are available in 5 wearable shades that glide smoothly over lips to give a beautiful non-glossy finish.

MUA Cosmetics have been known for coming up with affordable/ cheap makeup with good quality. They have recently launched their Matte Lipstick and I decided to pick these two shades – Scarlet Siren, Wild Berry. Packaging is different from their regular lipsticks, MUA Matte Lipstick comes in white plastic packaging , that does look cheap but one can’t ask more at such price.

Shades – Scarlet Siren is a Red shade with pink undertones, it looks absolutely stunning ! It has right amount of red without looking overwhelming and I really like this color. Wild Berry looks scary in the bullet but once applied it appears a pretty berry shade! Both shades would look good on all skintones.

Texture & Formula – I find the texture of MUA Matte Lipstick slightly dry and needs some dragging, but nothing too unpleasant. Formula once applied feels very comfortable on lips, contrary to other matte formulas, I really enjoyed wearing both the colors. The finish is satiny, neither completely matter nor glossy ! Formula doesn’t settle in fine lines.

Pigmentation – MUA Matte Lipstick lack in pigmentation and this is one of the greatest negative side of these lipsticks. I need atleast 6-7 swipes of Scarlet Siren to get even and opaque coverage. Wild berry doesn’t provide opaque coverage and even after applying/ layering it countless times, I could only build it upto medium opacity ! Both the shades give “stained lips” look.

Staying Power – MUA Matte Lipstick Stays on for good 4-5 hours. It turns a bit drying after sometime, but you can always reapply the color to get rid of that dryness. Both Scarlet Siren & Wild Berry leave slight stain behind. In picture below I have layered both the shades heavily (8-10 times)

Overall Thoughts

MUA Matte Lipstick are good affordable option available in the market. Formula is not uncomfortable like regular matte lips and can be worn even if lips are dry and flaky. It doesn’t settle in fine lines and stays on for good 4-5 hours, leaving a slight stain behind. Only downside is the pigmentation, none of the two shades provide full coverage. I have to layer them heavily to get medium coverage. I wouldn’t repurchase more shades from this range though if you are planning to buy any shade, I will recommend Scarlet Siren 🙂

OMG!! Scarlet Siren looks gorgeous on you, but I think I will skip…Bad pigmentation in deep shades can really kill a look :/

Thanks! This seems to be an honest review, and I was looking exactly for such a thing. Unfortunatly most of the people writing up reviews about MUA don’t tend to really consider the pros and cons.
