Memebox available from us.memebox.com
So I think after taking a small break from the memeboxes, I went all crazy again, this time with the Brand specific boxes. Now, I had read a couple of reviews on how these were not so much Value for Money as the other themed boxes, but I still went on to buy some for myself.
The memebox skinfood one is the least favourite one so far. In saying that, I know that I will use 4 out of the 5 products received, which itself is not bad, but now that I’m used to getting 7 full sized products, 5 just doesn’t cut it anymore – really.
So here’s what the box holds.
- Skinfood Facial Water Vita-C Cream – 75 gms. This is a facial cream made with Alaska glacial water and vitamin C complex with extracts from raspberry, acai berry, cranberry, and strawberry. They recommend you refrigerate for greater effectiveness. I may leave this for the sultry Mumbai summer, so I can enjoy the feeling of a cold cream on my face
- Skinfood Black Sugar Mask Wash Off 100gm. This is a mask to be used occasionally to cleanse dead skin cells, oil and skin impurities piling up in the pores to make skin sensitive and troublesome. You are supposed to apply on a wet face and massage and then wash off after 10 to 15 minutes.
- Skinfood Egg White Pore Meringue Foam 125ml. A basic foaming face wash for oily skin. Of late, I’ve been loving foaming face washes. This one is absolutely welcome. I will use this once I’m done with my Himalaya face wash. And yes, my skin is oily, so I guess this should work well.
- Skinfood Tomato Whitening Toner 180l. A toner made from sun-ripe tomato extracts and Vitamin C to make skin brighter clearer and suppler. I like this a lot. Tomato is supposed to have natural astringent properties and I would love to use something which is made from tomatoes. Like other Korean toners, you are supposed to apply on skin and pat it in for absorption.
- Skinfood Choco Eyebrow Powder Cake. This is an eyebrow powder cake with two different shades for shaping and defining the eyebrows. I have never filled in my eyebrows, ever! I know that a lot of professional make up artists claim that filling in brows can make a big difference, but really, I don’t think I would ever use this. Anyway, I cant use this particular product even if I wanted. I received it in a broken condition. I did write to Memebox and they credited my account for $4 as compensation for the damage. Well, not much else I can do here.
This box didn’t blow my socks off like I was expecting it to. A lot of other brands in the Memeboxes have never been heard of, but I have seen Skinfood stores in Singapore and the US. I guess I set my expectations really high here – setting myself up for disappointment.
Overall Thoughts
If you are looking for VFM, go for a themed box or a Global or Lucky box. Chances are, you will like the products better as well. As for the quality, I haven’t used anything so far but I am expecting the same standard as the products from other Memeboxes.
Also, I’m a little disappointed with the total number of products in the box.
