Memebox Special Oil Therapy #60 Review & Photos

Memebox Special Oil Therapy #60 ($19)Memebox Special #60 Oil Therapy – Review and Photos (1)

A while back, memebox came up with this concept of a Golden Ticket.  There was a set of boxes that were to have a guaranteed Golden Ticket with a US dollar value.  You could redeem that ticket in order to buy the next box or value set.  Intrigued by this, I went through the boxes and decided to go out of my comfort zone and pick up an Oil Therapy box.  I have spent years hating oil, since I have pretty oily skin.  Only of late, I have realized the folly in avoiding oil completely.

Memebox Special Oil Therapy Box took a while to arrive, much longer than the standard one month.  All the while I thought someone had opened it at Indian customs and found a really high value Golden Ticket and kept it for themselves!  The box did arrive – unopened.  With a Golden Ticket, for US $ 3.  “sad face”.   I was really expecting in the range of $10 to $20.

Well, Memebox Special Oil Therapy Box was also a bit ordinary.  Here’s what’s inside

Holika Holika Pig Nose Clear Blackhead Deep Cleansing Oil Balm 25gm. –  This goes on as a solid balm and transforms into an oil that is supposed to dissolve blackheads, oil and impurities.  It is actually non greasy and rinses off with water completely.   The pink clay extracts oil and blackheads deep in the pores, lemon extracts clarify and smooth out the skin’s surface and aloe vera leaf extracts soothe inflamed skin and shrink enlarged pores.  I have used this only once, and though I don’t have too many blackheads, the overall feels was that of getting a scrub down.  The texture is similar to the Banila Zero makeup remover.  I have begun liking this kind of feel on my skin.

ProYou Eucalyptus 10ml.  A soothing facial oil packed with remedial and restorative eucalyptus essential oil to treat skin irritations and preserve a youthful appearance.  You are to apply a small drop to troubled spots or mix with facial cream, toner or drop into bath water.  Now, I’m not really sure whether this is just the essential oil or a formulation. Since essential oil is so easily available in India, I find this a bit redundant.

Cheek Room Lip & Eye Makeup Remover 100ml.  A dual layer make up remover with cyclomethicone and rose water – can be used for waterproof  and stubborn eye makeup and lipstick.  A staple in anyone’s stash.  I will crack this open once I’m done using my normal L’Oreal makeup remover.

Migabee Verbana Oil Serum 30ml.  Formulated for face and neck, the serum in non greasy, soothing  brightening and anti aging. It is suitable for all skin types.  This can be applied directly or mixed with foundation, BB or CC cream.  I have heard lots of great stuff about Migabee and so I’ll be using this with high expectations.  Though, I find it weird mixing oil with BB cream, so I might go with this directly.

Bobbish Luminous Body & Facial Mist 100g. A facial oil mist formulated with argan oil and creates a micro mist to penetrate quickly and deeply. To be used before and after makeup for the look of perfect skin.  You can also use this over your body.

ProYou Aroma Vita Oil 165ml.  A blend of vita complex, camellia oil and jojoba oil to soothe and rejuvenate face and body.  You can massage the oil over face and body and rinse off with warm water or blend 2 – 3 drops with bath water and bathe for 15 to 20 minutes.  You can also use this after a shower all over.  I think I’ll go with the after bath or before bath option, as I don’t really care for soaking in a bath tub.

So Memebox Special Oil Therapy Box has some basic stuff, nothing really great though.  I know I will use most of it, but I guess I’ve been so spoiled by memebox of late that this was a bit of a let down.

Overall Thoughts.

I feel that Korean Skin care really pushes the envelope and this one is really basic.  I feel I can replace most of this with stuff I can easily get here.  Plus don’t get me started on the Golden ticket.  I guess some of the disappointment from seeing the low value ticket rubbed off on the box.  Very passable.

Rating – 3/5
