Memebox Cleopatra Special #74 was on sale forever and no one seemed to be interested in picking this up. I was expecting to see a lot of milk and donkey milk products in this so I guess I was one of the first people to buy it. I was really looking forward to getting something similar to a milk box sequel. Given that Cleopatra used to bathe in Donkey Milk, getting something from the Cleomee brand was topmost in my mind.
It turned out to be a bit of a let down, nothing with Donkey milk and quite a few products that looked very out of place in that box. Overall not bad, just very unexpected. I also didn’t get the info card in this box which makes it a bit of a pain to use. The instructions on the box are normally in Korean, so I keep the cards handy so I know exactly how to use the products. A missing card is irritating to say the least.
- Xaivita + Goat Milk Whitening cream 70g. – The most expensive product in the box, priced at US $ 70. I really think that would be an inflated price. The card says that Goat milk was one of the secrets to Cleopatra’s unfailing beauty. ?? Hmmm. This has 10,000 ppm of real goat milk to moisturize the skin. To be used as a day time moisturizer by mixing with sunscreen in equal parts or as a night-time moisturizer directly on the skin. I currently have a ton of day and night creams. I will use this in due course.
- Cossu Body Ade – Rose 190ml. A liquid bubble soap with 75% pure rose water, known to have been used for Cleopatra’s daily baths. It was to provide intense hydration and soothing relief while clarifying and nourishing dry skin. Can be used as a foam cleanser, body wash, shampoo or bubble bath. I am going to use this most as a shower gel, too scared to try this as a shampoo.
- WillSpa Touch Secret Touch for Women 12 ml. – This is a roll on perfume for women, made from essential oils such as frankincense, bergamot, ylang ylang, rose germanium, rose absolute, lavender, jojoba and patchouli. The roll on is supposed to be a therapeutic blend effective relieving stress and refreshing in between an exhausting day. So the link to Cleopatra here is that she was supposed to use a lot of essential oils. See what I mean when I say they were stretching it a bit to get the connections.
- Calmia Facial Cleanser Oatmeal Therapy Foam 150ml – An oatmeal cleanser to soften rough and renew dry and damaged skin. Again, this is made from a blend of herbal ingredients.
- Aromawiz Spa Bath Bomb Chocolate 150gms –A bath bomb! Really? Do you think Cleo used these while she was waiting for Marc Anthony? Fortunately they haven’t even tried to connect the dots here. It just is part of the box, for better or worse.
Overall Thoughts
I think memebox may have reached saturation point in coming up with original themed boxes. The last few boxes were just ok. The products are not bad on their own, but they don’t really stick to any theme as such. There is a lot of stretch in trying to fit stuff into the overall theme. Maybe they should just curate mystery boxes.
