Maybelline The Nudes Eyeshadow Palette Review Swatches Photos

After seeing Maybelline The Nudes eyeshadow palette being launched internationally, I prayed to the makeup gods that the brand show some mercy on us Indians and launch this product here before I become a grand parent. And see the god listened to me , for the first time ! This palette was launched in India this month and I was reading all sorts of mixed reviews all over the internet, therefore wanted to swatch it in the store before buying, but one of the other thing kept me busy and finally I had to order it online, through Nykaa on 15% off !

The palette comes in a sleek black case which looks classy. The only gripe is the absence of a mirror, which in my opinion is a must have when it comes to eyeshadow palettes, it makes the makeup application easy. 

There are 12 shades in the palette ranging from cool tones brown, grey, taupe, back, bronze to golden. There is a good mix of mattes & shimmer formulas. The lighter shades don’t swatch nicely without primer, so that means if you have a habit of applying eyeshadows directly on the lid, its time to get an Eye Shadow primer for yourself to give these colors some boost.

I liked the fact that brand has taken extra efforts to decode the colors/ palette for those who don’t know which color goes with what or if someone gets overwhelmed with the choices. On the backside they have shown how you can divide the 12 shades in 3 quads or 4 trios or 6 duos and use. For e.g. first 4 eyeshadows make a nice cool toned brown quad, next one has some warm toned shades and third one has perfect shades for a Black Smokey eye makeup. 

I am sure you can see how some of the shades lack pigment and don’t swatch nicely on bare skin, however some of them have a creamy smooth texture like the ones in the bottom row except the black one which is slightly chalky. Shades in the first row are good for transition, crease & blending. 

Since I was going to a cool toned neutral look, I had to use a heavy duty base like MAC Painterly Paint Pot . I am sure soon you will see a warm toned look using Maybelline The Nudes Eyeshadow Palette.

Overall Thoughts

I am glad that at least one brand dared to launch such a palette in India. I have always liked Maybelline’s affordable pricing and good quality makeup products, and this one is no exception. For those who love makeup but don’t want to spend too much on single eyeshadows can give The Nudes a go. However do remember that texture of some of the shades in chalky and hard to blend, there are some nice  creamy shades as well. Make sure you use a good eyeshadow base so that the colors could show up nicely.
