Maybelline is one brand that launches new products every month. I love Maybelline The Nudes palette and it is one my most used eyeshadow palettes. The Blushed nudes was a dud, with no pigmentation and too light shades. I will be honest with you all, i was almost not interested in picking the rock nudes but picked it after receiving numerous requests on my Youtube channel. I bought it online and took a long time in testing it , because i wasn’t sure about my feelings about it. But i gave it a try yesterday and believe me this palette caught me by surprise.
Packaging is very simple. The palette comes in a plastic case with a see through lid. There are 12 shades in Maybelline The Rock Nudes.
Shades – The Roch Nudes is all metallic, deep shades palette. There is a mix of shimmery, matte & metallic shades there. The palette has one matte & one shimmery black and surprisingly the formula os both the shadows is good. The purple matte shades are perfect for smoking out the black around the edges. There is one beautiful olive shade as well.
However I find the lighter frosty shade a bit difficult to work with. The two light shades (1st column from left) are quite shimmery and sheer. They can be good for brow-bone highlight and nothing else.
The above swatches are done on bare skin and one time sweep of finger in the pans. The darker colors are quite pigmented and soft. They blend easily and don’t look muddy. However I would have loved to see one warm toned brown in there since black and purple are repeated. A blue would have looked good too, still i am pretty happy with the color payoff and pigmentation.
For the look below I have used Faces Ultime Pro Intense Gel Kajal as base, since I was unsure about the pigmentation. In any case using a nice opaque base is always a good idea while doing eye makeup.
Maybelline The Rock Nudes Eye Shadow Palette is priced at Rs 925
I think its a good palette, if you already own too many warm toned or neutral palettes then Maybelline The Rock Nudes Eye Shadow Palette will a breath of fresh air. The palette has some intense shades to amp up your smokey eyes game. The pigmentation is good, but lighter shades failed to impress even with a base.
