Maybelline Pink Alert Lipstick POW 4 Review, Swatches

Maybelline Pink Alert Lipstick POW 4 (Rs 375) from Nykaa.comMaybelline knows how much we love our pink lip colours and keeps churning out some amazing new pinks for us!  I was on the look out for a great coral, and POW 4 came to the rescue.

Shade – Maybelline Pink Alert Lipstick POW 4 is not exactly what one would expect from a pink – it borders on neon coral, but only just.  In the tube is looks rather more coral, once on my lips it is a really bright pink.  Unline the other POW shades this one is far more warm toned and therefore probably the easiest to wear of the set of colours.   It will suit a wide range of complexions and will complement the Indian skin tone very well.  I have also realized that this looks great as a base for other glosses.  When I wore this with Maybelline colorsensational High shine lip gloss in Mirrored Mauve it looks really great and I landed up getting a lot of compliments. Two more shades – Maybelline Pink Alert Lipstick POW1 & POW3 have been reviewed before.

Texture and Formula – I have been a bit of the brand snob of late and I have not gotten a Maybelline lipstick in forever.  I was really glad I bought this.  Maybelline Pink Alert Lipstick POW 4 is quite buttery and soft, and glides on very easily.  I do find it a little drier than a super soft luxury lipstick, but for the price, this totally rocks. I did find that after the while the bright colour had sunk a little into the lines, however there was absolutely no feathering or smudging.Staying Power – Maybelline Pink Alert Lipstick POW 4 stays on me for a couple of hours before fading out evenly.  I suggest layering with a gloss for a great impact and greater longivity.

Overall Thoughts

While I still love my high end lipsticks, I prefer to get those in more classic shades.  For the brighter more neon colours I would rather experiment with a more budget friendly but high quality brand.  I am really taken in by the level of innovation and quality at a super affordable price. My personal favorite way to wear Maybelline Pink Alert Lipstick POW 4 is with a slightly muted gloss to give a really classy feel and increase wear.
