Shade – I am reviewing Maybelline Eyestudio Lasting Drama Gel Eyeliner in 01 Black. Its not blackest of black but black enough to give opaque color in one swipe.

Texture & Formula – Maybelline Eyestudio Lasting Drama Gel Eyeliner has a smooth texture and formula glides on easily. However I didn’t find it very creamy and its bit dry when you try to draw a line. You can see in the swatch above it doesn’t looks creamy. The formula sets immediately and doesn’t transfer to lids. I have worn it on lower lash line and it performs well there too. Due to its slight dry texture it doesn’t move or smudge and stays intact throughout the wear time.

Flash has taken away the intensity of the color, in person its slightly more black.Maybelline Eyestudio Lasting Drama Gel Eyeliner (3)Pigmentation – Maybelline Eyestudio Lasting Drama Gel Eyeliner is quite pigmented, however not pigmented enough that you don’t have to go back to get more in order to finish the line. I needed to pick the product twice/thrice to complete the eyelining + to intensify the color.

Staying Power – I haven’t worn it for 36H, though longest it stayed on me was for good 8+ hours without smudging or transferring. Formula contrary to its claims isn’t waterproof. I splashed some water on my eyes and rubbed them gently and formula came off easily. Personally I don’t prefer waterproof formulas as they tend to break or flake.

Positive Points –

  1. Affordable
  2. Comes with Brush applicator that works really well
  3. Formula glides on easily
  4. Stays on for good 8+ hours without fading or smudging
  5. Formula is pretty Pigmented , so one jar will last months

Negative points would be –

  1. Slight dry texture
  2. Non-Waterproof Formula

Overall Thoughts

Maybelline Eyestudio Lasting Drama Gel Eyeliner is a good gel eyeliner since its affordable and works really well. Its oil free so I hope it will stay on oily eyelids too. For working girls its a good product since its smudgeproof and stays intact for good 8+ hours. I haven’t seen the new formula anywhere online yet, I hope it is available in stores.
