Each time I see a glitter polish, my inner magpie suddenly awakes and makes me hunt it down and buy it.  I adore glittery nails, its so easy to dress up a normal look by just blinging up your nails.  I am so glad Maybelline joined the bandwagon and has given us some super glittery textured polishes.

I picked up three recently- All that Glitters, Dazzling Diva and Pink Champagne

Texture and Formula – All three are the same in terms of formula.  They go on a little thick, and you need to be a little careful whilst applying them.  You need to make sure that you get 2 to 3 thin-ish coats.  If aren’t careful and apply a thick coat then it tends to get clumpy and doesn’t dry easily.  I put a slightly thick coat on one finger and it took longer to dry and one little bit pulled off even after it was almost dry.

The glitter is dense and you can see a very minute micro shimmer with scattered circular glitter of the same colour.  Though Maybelline doesn’t say it’s a textured polish, Maybelline Colorshow Glitter Mania certainly is, that is unless you tame it down with a top coat.  I personally prefer it rough.

When you wear it you will feel the texture each time you touch your nails. I am ok with this but with someone who has OCD tendencies, this may be like nails scratching against a blackboard.

Though it’s called Glitter Mania, the shimmer is subdued and not in your face.  I love the three colours of Maybelline Colorshow Glitter Mania I picked, they are neutral enough and will go with a lot of stuff.

If you have used the Faces Sand polishes, you will be familiar with how these feel.

Dry time is fast, Maybelline Colorshow Glitter Mania Nail Polishes are completely dry in about 5 to 7 minutes.  Removal is a pain though, thanks to the glitter.  A word of advice here, use acetone or an acetone based remover.  Non acetone based removes need a lot more product and elbow grease to get this off.  You are damaging your nails far more by rubbing a remover over each nail for 5 minutes trying to pull off polish, than using a stronger chemical but removing the colour in a few seconds.

Maybelline Colorshow Glitter Mania Dazzling Diva All that Glitters

Shades

All that Glitters – This is a subtle gold which is not super shiny or over the top.  I think its perfect for any occasion.  You can really wear this anywhere (well, maybe not at work, but that goes for the full range).  I can’t quite see the exact colour of the small circular glitter but it looks more white gold than yellow, toning the polish down very nicely.

Dazzling Diva –  This one is full on silver and if I may dare say, its more blingy than the gold one.  The shine stands out more, I guess because all the glitter in this is silver, there is nothing to tone down the polish.

Pink Champagne – This is my favorite of the bunch.  It may be the name that makes me love it so much, but its just perfect.  That coming from someone who hates pink is saying a lot.  I have about 200 polishes and must be having a total of 2 to 3 true pinks in my stash – yes I hate pink.  But this one I love.  Maybelline Colorshow Glitter Mania Pink Champagne is light frosty rose tinged pink and in the bottle the glitter looks decidedly silver.  So I’m guessing that all of the polishes have the same silver glitter as part of the mixture.

Staying Power

I’ve just had this on for a day now so I cant comment on how much longer these will last.  Glitter and texture normally stays put longer than crème.  From the way it has worn so far I guess this will start wearing at the tips only after a couple of more days.

Overall Thoughts

I love these polishes and am really glad I got them.  The point to note is that these are actually really small at 6ml.  The China Glaze, OPI and Zoya shades are all 15 ml so that’s a little more than one third of the other polishes.

Glitter also uses more product per wear – so you will finish the bottle up a lot faster than a 6ml of crème or jelly polish.   I finished a bottle of 4ml glitter polish (of a different brand) in about 6 to 8 uses.  So keep that in mind.

However, I’m actually happy when I can use up a beauty product completely.  I like small sizes, I can buy more shades and don’t need to commit to a single colour.  I am pleased with the price point and the size.   Next haul may have a couple more from the range of 8 colours.
