So Maybelline is rolling out one quality product after another. Last month the brand added some new shades to existing Color Show Lipsticks range, then this month they launched 3 new products – Maybelline The Nudes Eyeshadow Palette, Maybelline Fashion Brow Duo Shaper & Color Show Creamy Matte Lipcolor. I was waiting to these lip colors to be available online , however these aren’t available on any of the shopping sites yet. I went to the mall earlier this month only to find out that only 12 shades have launched out of those only limited options are available for medium-deeper skintones which was a downer of course. I managed to pick 2 that day and worn them couple of times. Here is my take on this new launch –

Packaging is very similar to previous color show lipsticks except this time the black case is matte.

Shades – Maybelline Color Show Creamy Matte Lipcolor Madly Magenta is a plum lipstick with hint of shimmers, that don’t look overwhelming when applied. Hot Chili on the other hand is a warm toned red which looks absolutely delightful on my complexion (NC42-44).

Texture & Formula – I find these rather satiny than matte. Texture is smooth and these glide on easily without tugging or pulling, unlike regular matte lipsticks. Formula feels comfortable on the lips however if you have chapped or dry lips, they might get accentuated. Formula doesn’t sit and transfers on cups etc. Hot chili is my favorite out of the both the shades that I tried, since it doesn’t have shimmer. Madly magenta has shimmer but that doesn’t make the formula gritty or uncomfortable whatsoever. It feels slightly powdery than creamy, if you know what I mean! Red Carpet is a classic red & flaming fuchsia is a bright fuchsia.

Pigmentation – This is something I have realised while swatching shades in the store, all the shades are decently pigmented. Lighter shades are patchy and less pigmented than the deeper ones. You wouldn’t get opaque finish in single swipe, I need to layer it up. Maybelline Color Show Creamy Matte Lipcolor Review Swatches Photos - Madly Magenta Hot Chili (2)Maybelline Color Show Creamy Matte Lipstick Red Carpet & Flaming Fuchsia review swatches photos (1)

Staying Power – Stupendous ! Maybelline Color Show Creamy Matte Madly Magenta stayed on for good 5+ hours and leaves a stain that stays for another 2 hours . Hot Chili & Red Carpet stayed on for good 4+ hours with leaving a stain that remained on the lips for another 2 hours !

Madly Magenta is darker than how it appears in the swatch. Natural light has washed away the color.

The only dislike is the scent, it literally smells like cheap cosmetics, or cough syrup ! Something I just can’t stand !

Overall Thoughts

Maybelline Color Show Creamy Matte Lipsticks are a good choice if you love matte lipcolors. However there are limited shades for medium-deeper skintones, and repetition of reds. Formula is nice and glides on smoothly unlike regular matte lipsticks. It stays on for good 5-6 hours and doesn’t dry out lips as much as other matte formulas do. Unfortunately shade range doesn’t offer much color choices and the scent is quite strong.
