I think maybelline is the only brand with over 6-7 variants in a lip balm category. Baby Lips is quite famous when it comes to lip balms in India. The balms have a nice fruity scent and come in a variety of colors & flavours. Recent addition to Maybelline Baby Lips range is Candy Rush Lip Balm collection. There are 4 shades and I picked all of them.
Here are some key features of the product:
– First sweet flavored lip balm
– Available in 4 sweet flavors; Watermelon Pop, Cotton Candy, Gummy Grape, Orange Jujube.
– Provides 16 HR moisture.
– Contains goodness of Vitamin E and Coconut Oil.
– Provides SPF 20
– Retails at Rs 190/-
Packaging is very similar to other Maybelline Baby Lips Lip Balms. The Small plastic twist up tubes have Shade names mentioned on the body.
Shades – Candy Rush Lip Balms are available in 4 shades Orange Jujube , Watermelon Pop, Gummy Grape & Cotton Candy. My personal favourites are gummy grape & cotton candy. Orange Jujube is too sheer for my pigmented lips. Infact all the 4 are very sheer unlike Baby Lips Candy Wow that were almost similar to sheer lipstick. The sheer wash of color is great for everyday wear.
Texture & formula – These lip balms do taste sweet, in a good non-plastic-y way. I like the flavours, can’t really tell the difference from one another but overall they feel good on the lips and if you accidentally lick them. The flavour wouldn’t make you gag. But does that make the formula any better than the previous ones? Well I doubt.
The only problem I have always had with Maybelline Baby Lips lip balms is the lack of moisturising property. Well it might work for some, but for my forever dry lips it doesn’t seem to work no matte how many times I apply it during the day.
I have developed a habit of unconsciously reapplying lip balms throughout the day, so these still work. Also the formula comes with SPF 20 which is a good amount of sun protection. Also I don’t find them too slippery and they work quite well under lipsticks too.
Staying Power – The color stays on for 1-2 hours or until you eat or drink something.

Overall Thoughts
I always have this love-hate kind of relationship with Maybelline Lip Balms. As much as I like the sheer wash of color and sweet candy like taste of Maybelline Baby Lips Candy Rush Lip Balms , the lack of moisturisation keeps me searching for a better option.

I too have Sahara desert dry lips!! Babylips are now no longer able to keep them soft and hydrated. What do you use to moisturize your lips?? Would love to know.
