Marc Jacobs Headliner Kiss Pop Lipstick Review Swatches Photos

This is one of those lip colours that I chose to pick up only and only for the packaging alone.  I saw Marc Jacobs Headliner in the display and I knew I had to have one of these.  The choice of shades is surprisingly small.  I took a while to pull out one that was a little different from what I already have.  Yes, its difficult when lip colour is your guilty pleasure and you own more than some small make up stores 🙂

Packaging – The whole reason I bought this little gem.  I have to admit the faux pencil shape, with the matching shade on the tip is so adorable.  I really cannot get over it.  Too bad it is not very purse friendly that I can’t pull it out to show off.

I love the way it looks but on the down side the pull feels a little flimsy.  When you open the cover, the bullet is still out and that scares me a little.  I prefer the lipstick bullet to retract completely.  This one doesn’t. This one also doesn’t have many facets on the bullet that makes it hard to get the lips completely covered in one go.

This is more difficult that the other lip pencils with the same shape since those are not half as pigmented as this one.  Wish they would get the bullet shape better, I mean this isn’t exactly a budget lip colour.

Shade – Headliner is a deep berry toned lip colour that is still fresh somehow.  I have a lot of very deep lip colours that look very out of place in the day, not so for this one, it manages to retain its youthfulness quite nicely, thank you.

Pigmentation – I dont know how Marc Jacobs does it, but their lip colours seem to be the most pigmented ones that I have used so far.  The deepness comes through in just one swipe across the lips.  Even with very pigmented lips, these shades will cover the lip colour completely.

Texture & Formula – Marc Jacobs Headliner Kiss Pop Lipstick is a tad drier than a crème lipstick.  It also has a more matte texture.  The most amazing bit is that is almost doesn’t transfer at all.  Even if you wear this and have a large glass of iced water there is virtually no transfer or bleeding of the colour.  They are clearly doing something right out here.  I love this texture so much that I will be picking up more of these shades at the next opportunity that I get.

Staying Power – This baby pulls through the entire day and then some.  I dont need to reapply at all.  The colour fades evenly after 8 to 9 hours of good wear.

Overall Thoughts

Gorgeous shade, buttery soft application, through the day colour, I guess I can forgive the shape of the bullet.  I love Marc Jacobs Headliner and I’m pretty sure I will love the rest in this range.  I will be looking for more colours soon.  I just wish Marc Jacobs would realize how much we love his beauty stuff and set up shop in India quickly.
