Make Up For Ever Ultra HD Foundation Review Swatches Photos

I am a big fan of Make Up For Ever and MUFE HD foundation is my favorite. The formula has been changed and it is now called as Ultra HD Foundation which I bought recently and wanted to see what the real difference is.

Packaging – Make Up For Ever Ultra HD Foundation comes in the same old transparent plastic bottle packaging but they have improved a bit. The cap no longer is loose and instead, shuts quite tightly. I am so glad they have worked on it and it is such a savior especially during travel.

Shade – I picked up the shade Y405=153 in the HD foundation. The numbers are quite confusing so it is better to try it at the store and not go by the numbers. Y405 is as yellow toned as the 153 in the older formula.

I would have preferred a shade lighter as it looks a bit darker on me. I am NC40-41 in MAC.

Pigmentation – This Ultra Hd foundation has a lot of pigment in it and can cover up blemishes and pigmentation with one coat without that heavy and cakey look.  You would need just a pump or 1.5 pumps for the entire face.

Make Up For Ever Ultra HD Foundation has no SPF so there is no problem of flashback in pictures which is an advantage.

Texture & Formula – While the older formula was more creamy and apt for my dry skin, the Utra HD is more liquidy and bit runny but not sheer though. It is best used with a stippling brush as a sponge can soak up a lot of the product. It spreads and blends well and looks very natural. The main change is the formula.

This formula is more apt for oily skin as it makes the skin matte instead of the satin finish it had before. I really wish they had not discontinued the older formula but yes they have. You can however make use of it with a hydrating primer but if you have dry-very dry skin, I would suggest skipping this and opting for the HD stick which I have reviewed here.

Staying power – Ultra HD Foundation stays put for 6+ hours and a slight dusting of powder on the t-zone is required. It does not oxidise. I prefer not using a powder as it is mattifying and I have normal-dry skin. If you have oily skin, it is good to use a light weight powder on top.

It does not break you out even if you have sensitive skin. It feels light weight and photographs very well.

Make Up For Ever Ultra HD Foundation is priced at Rs 3700 (approx), available at Sephora

Overall Thoughts:

While I feel Make Up For Ever Ultra HD Foundation is a great foundation, I just wish they brought back the older creamy formula as well.

Rating: 4/5
