Today I’ll review MAC Velvet Teddy Lipstick which comes in regular black matte outer case package. It’s from the permanent MAC line. The packaging is sturdy and travel friendly.

Shade: MAC describes Velvet Teddy as deep-tone beige but on my medium-complexion it looks nude pinky beige and I absolutely love it. It’s a perfect nude shade which works for my skin tone. You know it’s really hard to find a neutral shade that doesn’t wash you out and looks MLBB shade (my lips but better). It goes well with smokey eyes and even when you want a no-makeup look. I just love the shade. It has soft sheen but no shimmers which makes it ideal for office too. Since the lipstick has natural pinkness it never makes me look washed out or pale. Pigmentation: MAC Velvet Teddy is pigmented; one single swipe is enough to get the desired shade. The formula is light-weight and it’s comfortable to wear. The lipstick carries a lovely, sweet and very light vanilla scent like which is signature MAC fragrance.

Formula: I love Mac Mattes and according me no brand does matte like MAC. I have tried 2-3 matte shades and loved their texture so I was expecting the same texture from this too. But MAC Velvet Teddy is slightly drying and looks patchy after a few hours so exfoliation and lip balm beneath is definitely required. The finish also starts looking cakey if applied more than 2 layers. It also emphasizes dry areas so I always wear gloss on top of it so that it imparts a healthy glossy look and doesn’t look odd.

Staying Power: It stays for around 4 hours on me which is quite good considering the light shade. It doesn’t smudge or smear and fades evenly. With meals it fades a bit but not completely.

Overall Thoughts:

I have always loved MAC matte but this one is slightly drying so you need to top with clear gloss to make it look good. MAC Velvet Teddy is not unique but classic and you cannot go wrong with it. The shade looks really pretty with properly exfoliated lips, balm and gloss. If you still haven’t found your MLBB shade then try this shade and you might fall for it.
