MAC Up The Amp Lipstick Review Swatches

MAC Up The Amp Lipstick (Rs 990) available at MAC StoresI don’t mind going out of my comfort zone once in a while and experiment with daring colors. During my recent visit to MAC Store, I swatched number of shades and felt quite bored with all pinks and reds and browns .. I decided to pick MAC Up the amp just to add a new daring shade in my stash ..

Shade – MAC Up The Amp is a Lavender toned Violet shade. It has some pink tones to it but they aren’t much visible.Texture & Formula – MAC Up The Amp is a part of permanent line and falls under Amplified Creme Finish. Amplified Creme finish formulas are very pigmented with creamy finish. MAC Up The Amp glides on smoothly and gives opaque finish in single swipe, however I layer it twice to get even distribution of color. It gives even and creamy finish that makes lips look fuller. Formula keeps lips moisturized and doesn’t settle in fine lines. I didn’t observe it bleeding or feathering. Pigmentation – MAC Up The Amp is quite pigmented and covers lips in two swipes. It covers lip pigmentation pretty well and applies evenly !

Staying Power – I like lustre finish lipsticks but they aren’t as long staying as these. MAC Up The Amp stays on for good 4-5 hours with little fading. I don’t expect it to stay forever, because practically cream formulas do not stay for more than 5 hours.

Pictures below have been taken indoors under artificial lighting using flash. Color looks dull, and my complexion washed out, where in reality it looks quite good and suits me well. 

Apparently flash has washed away my blush too :/ I look quite dead here.. If you have a bought it and the shade isn’t working out for you, you can use a pink/ red lip liner to outline and fill in after applying this shade. It warms up the color. I will have a separate post up which will show you how I make certain shades work for me !

Overall Thoughts

Someone has rightly said that MAC Up The Amp isn’t for faint heart girls. This shade pushes you out of your comfort zones. This one shade would look good on all skin tones based on how well they carry it. Formula and finish is absolutely great and stays on for 4-5 hours. I would love to try other shades from this finish.
