MAC Russian Red Lipglass (Rs 990 for 0.10 oz) can be purchased through MAC store.
My craze for Reds and bright shades is coming back as the season is changing and I prefer darker shades for the fall.
Shade – MAC describes Russian red as vivid intense bluish red. However, on me it comes out more as a pink based red. I would call this shade as Cherry red as the pink tone looks very prominent on lips. It is absolutely shimmer free and has no sheen. A red,that I really want in my vanity for a perfect classy pout.
Packaging – The packaging is like standard MAC lip glass having a cylindrical tube and black cap. The shade name is provided at the bottom. It looks very vibrant and the packaging is sturdy. The sponge tip applicator is helpful in easy application of the lip glass.
Texture & Formula – The texture of MAC Russian Red Lipglass is thick. I can feel that I have put something on my lips. It is slightly sticky but not uncomfortable and glides on easily. The formula is neither drying nor hydrating on lips. It doesn’t accentuate flaky lips or settle in the lip lines.
Russian Red provides very glossy look to lips and make them look plumped and smooth. It has vanilla fragrance that is pleasant.
Pigmentation – The lip glass is immensely pigmented. One coat provides absolutely opaque coverage .The shade is great for all skin tones and a must have for those having pigmented lips and it comes them beautifully and makes the face look brighter.
Staying Power – Russian Red stays for about 4-5 hours with light meal include. It does leave a red-pink tint behind as the shade is heavily pigmented.
Ease Of Application – MAC Russian Red Lipglass is easy to apply as the sponge tip applicator ensures even application but it has a problem of bleeding if over applied. It looks gloopy and forms lumps at the corners of the lips on over application. To avoid that, I generally put a light layer of nude lip colour and apply this lip glass. This way, the shades looks very vibrant and stays on lips.
Overall Thoughts
I am in love with MAC Russian Red Lipglass as it is an apt shade of red for a sophisticated look. The texture is slightly thick and sticky but the overall impact is amazing.
It makes my lips appear plumped and smooth and the staying power is fabulous for a gloss.
