MAC Petrol Blue Pearlglide Intense Eye Liner ($16 for 1.2 gm.) available at MAC StoresMAC Pearlglide Intense Eye Liner Petrol Blue is described as “deep navy with pearl”. It is a part of their permanent range of makeup, although it was packaged in a different way for a number of collections, including the very famous Archies’ Girls.
MAC SAYS: “An eye pencil that provides rich, luxurious colour with a touch of shimmer and sparkle. Soft, smooth, creamy formula glides on for a perfectly intense line, yet its soft texture allows you to blend. Long-wearing. Smudge-proof.”
Shade: MAC Petrol Blue Pearlglide Intense Eye Liner is dark navy blue with navy blue pearls in it. The color is intense and stands out against my eyelids. I am not sure whether I want to use this on my waterline as of now, because I do have a bit of a problem with pearlglides in that area.
Packaging: As it’s a part of MAC’s permanent collection, a black body with a dark blue bottom is what this pencil is all about – the key is in its simplicity. However, since MAC Petrol Blue is a pencil, sharpening does tend to lead to wastage, which is one thing I dislike quite immensely.
Texture and Formula: MAC Petrol Blue Pearlglide Intense Eye Liner glides on very smoothly, without a single hint of tugging or pulling. The formula is very quick to settle, so if you are in the mood to play with it, better do that within the first 10-20 seconds, because once the color sets, it sets. I have not used it on my waterline, but on my eye lids, it does not itch.
Pigmentation: The pigmentation is intense and one swipe is enough to get intense color. In the pictures I have only swiped the pencil once to get the color.
Staying Power: On my eyelids the color has lasted a good 14 hours. I went out around 10 am today and was not back before 12.30 am in the night, and the color stayed pretty, did not budge, or smear or fade at all! I was stunned by the staying power. However, the only issue is, the pearls in the formula do have a habit of straying to the corners of my eyes, and if you rub your eyes, then you would see the pearls on your fingers, so it does not hold up too well if you rub hard.
Removal: It takes a makeup remover and a good bit of cotton to remove MAC Petrol Blue Pearlglide Intense Eye Liner, simply because of the pearls. I don’t consider that to be much of a con.
Overall Thought
If you are looking for an intense shade of blue with blue pearls, something that would truly stand out, yet not be obnoxious, then MAC Petrol Blue Pearlglide Intense Eye Liner is for you! I have to say, the shade is extremely wearable, especially on my upper eyelids and looks gorgeous without being too in-your-face. I do have issues with the pearls gathering on the corners of my eyes, and the wastage that happens when I sharpen the pencil, but I can live with that, because the staying power and color is great!
Verdict: 4/5

I have something similar as well, but the lasting power of this one takes the prize!
