MAC Pain Pots are great eyeshadow base/primer and some of them are good enough to be worn alone. I have Indianwood Paint pot and love it to the core. Painterly was on my wishlist for a long time but due to its popularity I could never find it in stock. During my last trip to MAC store I was fortunate enough to get last piece of this precious pot. There are regular paint pots and then there are pro longwear ones.

Shade – MAC Painterly is a fresh toned eyeshadow base, which works under almost any eyeshdaow color. I love wearing neutral eyemakeup looks and some times those matte shades need a sticky base to stick on to and work better. If you are planning to pick one shade then it has to be Painterly.

Texture & Formula – Painterly is matte and has a nice smooth texture. Best part is that it isn’t slippery and sets nicely under any eyeshadow formula. Once set it doesn’t move and helps eye makeup to stay on throughout the day without creasing or fading. Whether you love shimmer or matte eyshadow formulas, this one will work under any of them.

Pigmentation – Another benefit of MAC Painterly Paint Pot is the shade and how it cancels out eye lid darkness. Which is something I struggle with most of the times. It provides and opaque base that helps eye shadows to looks vivid and bright.

Staying Power – Being a pro longwear paint pot, MAC Painterly stays on for good 8+ hours on me.

You might have seen me using this paintpot in many of my videos

Overall Thoughts

I am quite happy with MAC Painterly and it has become my go -to eyeshadow base. Some might find it expensive but considering the amount one needs each time, this one pot will last you for a good time even if you use it daily.
