MAC Matte Bronzing Powder Review Swatches Photos

Bronzers and contour powders are an absolute must have if you are into makeup as it makes a lot of difference to the face. Being thin faced, I have never liked the use of contouring products but once I ventured into professional makeup, I started collecting them and have quite a few good ones. It is hard to find good contouring products in India and I found MAC Matte Bronzing Powder. The MUA tried it on me and I found that this is perfect shade for me hence this baby came home.

Packaging – It comes in the standard matte black MAC compact case with a mirror. It does not come with a brush and you need to use an angled contour brush with it.

Shade – MAC Matte Bronzing Powder comes only in one shade. The other formula is called Refined Golden which has shimmer in it. This is a nice shade if you are up to NC42 in MAC, It would not show up on deeper ski ntones.

Sad that MAC which makes amazing products for deep skin tones has actually forgotten to make a contour powder work for them.

Texture & Formula – Initially I did struggle with this but then got used to it. It is a bit time consuming to go and on and on with a contour powder. It is not really patchy but takes some time to blend, because of the stiff texture.

Pigmentation – Now this is the biggest drawback of this bronzing powder. It is as stiff as a rock. The testers I tried were actually good and I literally got fooled. Maybe with regular usage, It would get better and am still trying to work it out.

You would need to swipe your brush 5-6 times for it to show  up on your skin. I might literally scrape the top layer and see how it works. However for the price paid, I did I did not expect it to be so poor.

Staying Power – It stays for 4+ hours on my skin and is fairly decent.

MAC Matte Bronzing Powder is priced at INR 2100 approximately.

Overall Thoughts:

When it comes from MAC, obviously all of will have high expectations and this one is such a big disappointment. I am still trying to make MAC Matte Bronzing Powder work as I do not wish to waste my money. I would rather shell out more and buy a good contour powder from Chanel instead.

Rating: 2.5/5
