MAC Happy Go Lucky Lipstick – Playland Collection Review

MAC Happy Go Lucky Lipstick (Rs 1190 for 3 gm) is part of play land collection and can be purchased from MAC stores. It is a limited edition shade.MAC Happy Go Lucky Lipstick - Playland Collection Review, Swatches PhotosA short description on the collection: ‘Welcome to M∙A∙C Playland, a funtastical wonderland of enchantment and delight. Luscious shades of Lipstick and Lip glass liven lips in playful pinks, brilliant purples and bright corals.’

I love bright, neon, poppy shades for summers and this collection is full of such shades. This shade is bit similar to MAC Love Forever Pro Longwear Lipcreme

Shade- MAC Happy Go Lucky Lipstick is described as a hot pink with an Amplified finish. For me, it is bright neon pink with strong blue undertones. The shade has amplified finish providing glossy look to lips. It is sans any shimmer or sheen.

Packaging- The packaging of this limited edition lipstick is same as the permanent line MAC lipsticks having a matte black outer cover with shade name and finish at the bottom. It is sturdy and travel friendly.MAC Happy Go Lucky Lipstick - Playland Collection Review, Swatches, photosTexture &Formula- MAC Happy Go Lucky Lipstick has a very soft and creamy texture. It applies evenly without any tugging or pulling. The shade has amplified finish which is quite hydrating and moisturising. It doesn’t settle in the lip lines and covers flaky lips to great extent than accentuating them. It has vanilla fragrance reminiscent to other MAC lip products. The shade is light weight but it can bleed if over applied as it is glossy and very smooth.

Pigmentation- The shade is decently pigmented and covers lip pigmentation to a good extent in two swipes. One swipe provides medium coverage which can be built up to full coverage in another swipe. However, it has blue undertones which can make the corners of the lips look darker. It can bleed and form lines on lips on over application.

Staying Power- MAC Happy Go Lucky Lipstick stays for about 4-5 hours on my lips. The glossiness lessens but the shade stays and leaves a deep pink stain on lips which stay for another 2 hours on lips.

Overall Thoughts

MAC Happy Go Lucky is a very fun shade. It is bright and has slight neon effect. I like pairing it with light eye makeup and highlighted cheeks. The finish of the lipstick is amazing and so is the texture. It provides decent wear time of about 4-5 hours and another 2 hours from the stain it leaves on lips. The shade brightens up my skin tone but it can look slight ashy on darker skin tones.

Rating- 4/5
