However, thank God it did not, and I bought Dreaming Dahlia after contemplating between that and Snapdragon.

Shade:  MAC Dreaming Dahlia Lipstick has been called a “sheer red coral” by MAC and I think the description is spot on. This is a gorgeous summer color, and translates into a light coral with mild gold shimmers, which borders towards red when I apply it on my lips. I can just wear this and go out without thinking of applying any more makeup than some mascara and kohl.

Packaging: The packaging is without any surprises – MAC does not play around and gives this a simple black and silver packaging, same as the permanent range. I wish it was more colorful, since it IS a part of a very dreamy collection.

Texture and Formula: The formula is “lustre”. I have a thing for this particular formula – they tend to hydrate my lips a lot, and I have to say, this one is no exception. MAC Dreaming Dahlia Lipstick glides on very easily on my lips, and bleeds very slightly, so I have to be slightly careful while applying. The traditional MAC vanilla scent is there, and the lipstick does not make my lips flake or dry up at all. MAC Dreaming Dahlia Lipstick review (4)Pigmentation: The pigmentation is low, since the finish is semi-sheer, but the good news is, although MAC Dreaming Dahlia Lipstick has shimmers in it, they are barely visible, and only adds shine, without settling into the lip lines.  They aren’t chunky or obvious, which is a major plus point for me. One swipe gives my lips a lovely hint of coral, but does not hide any of the pigmentation on my lips. After a couple of swipes, I can see the color turning semi-opaque, but still looks natural.

Staying Power: MAC Dreaming Dahlia Lipstick lasts for about 2-3 hours on my lips if I don’t eat and drink, and then leaves behind a lovely stain. It completely goes away if I have a meal. I love the texture of the lipstick though. It really keeps my lips hydrated for around 5-6 hours and I do not need a lip balm.

Overall Thoughts

I am quite convinced that MAC Dreaming Dahlia Lipstick is going to be my summer color, especially during the day. The color is wearable, glossy without being overdone, shimmery but not obviously so, and gives my lips the right hint of color without looking unnatural or weird. It also does not wash me out, which sometimes orange and corals seem to do to me. I am yet to find one bad thing about the lipstick, except that it does not last for very long, but then again, the lustre formula is not known to last, and I did not expect it.

 Verdict: 5/5
