Shade – MAC Captive is part of MAC’s permanent line of lipsticks. Captive is a plum-pink color. Captive looks pretty close to MAC Amorous though bit more pink & deeper in color. MAC Captive will look beautiful on all skin tones, and can be a good MLBB/ daily wear color for deeper skintones.

Texture & FormulaMAC Captive is a part of Satin Finish formulas. Texture is smooth and glides on easily, its neither buttery smooth nor drying. Satin finishes are a cross between lustre and matte, so the formula feels comfortable on lips and provides a semi-matte finish. It doesn’t settle in fine lines or accentuate them, however exfoliating and moisturizing lips beforehand is always recommended, as it can highlight dry/flaky patches. I have dry lips and it keeps them in good condition throughout the wear.

Pigmentation – MAC Captive is highly pigmented. Single stroke covers lip pigmentation and makes the appear even toned. I personally like to wear it as a stain (single coat) since this color has a tendency to make my complexion dull !

Staying Power – MAC Captive stays on for good 5+ hours. It survives meals and fades a bit after 3-4 hours. It looks pretty as a stain too so I don’t reapply it. Color does transfer a bit on cups/ glasses. Due to its good staying power MAC Captive can be a good choice for working girls, who avoid touching up their makeup every now and then.

Overall Thoughts

MAC Captive is a great option for those who want a semi-matte finish, non-drying comfortable formula and good staying power. Color itself looks good on everyone. Captive has good pigmentation. If you are looking for a plum-pink lipcolor do try this color. However if you already have MAC Amorous, there is not really a need to purchase since both of them are quite close (not exact same).
