MAC All Fired Up Retro Matte Lipstick Review Swatches Photos

There are some products that are so much talked about that you feel almost pressurized to buy them. MAC Retro Matte Lipstick Collection is one such range. In fact there are couple of shades in the range that are not new and already available in the permanent line

One such shade – All Fired Up caught my fancy, even when I wasn’t sure about the color. I have Ruby Woo and its a shade I wear without thinking twice , so I gave up and picked All Fired Up in the beginning of this month. MAC All Fired Up Retro Matte Lipstick Review Swatches Photos (3)

Shade – MAC has described as a bright fuchsia, however I find it fuchsia with red under tones, its not as blue toned as regular fuchsia lipsticks are , which makes is pretty much wearable for all skintones. Its bright enough to lift up your mood. All Fired Up is good for those days when you aren’t in a mood for putting on makeup and just want to bring some color to your face.

Texture & Formula – The texture is waxy, hard to work with, specially if your lips are dry and chapped. One advice is that one should exfoliate & moisturise lips before applying any retro matte lipstick. Also the formula is slightly weird, its crumbly and if you have a habit of pressing lips together, just don’t do that while you have All Fired up on, because then the color comes off and looks uneven. One day when I had this on, I pressed my lips together and lipstick from top lip came off, that too in patches, which looked so gross ! I find formula of MAC Flat Out Fabulous much better & easy to work as compared to this one. It gathers on the lips and looks unpleasant.

Pigmentation – It offers medium to buildable coverage. Pigmentation of my lips peeks through the color, so try this shade before buying if you have dark lips.

Staying Power – Retro matte lipsticks are famous for two things – Dry Matte Formula & Long staying power. MAC All Fired Up stays on for good 6+ hours on me.  It doesn’t leave any stain behind.

Overall Thoughts

If you are in for a universally flattering bright but warm toned fuchsia, then MAC All Fired Up is one shade you must own. However the formula of this particular shade is off putting , it gets crumbly and patchy, if you press the lips together after you have this shade on.
