L’Oreal Superliner Gelmatic Eyeliner Glamour Gold, Turquoise

L’Oreal Superliner Gelmatic Eyeliner (Rs 425 for 5 g) available at FlipkartI am not a big colored-eyeliner lover but yes having one or two in the stash does’t hurt, specially when you have such bright bold options. L’Oreal has always been one of my favorite brands until recently when it decided to go crazy with the prices. However brand has introduced several budget makeup products of late. Their latest launch is L’Oreal L’Or Lumière Festival de Cannes 2014 Collection.

L’Oreal Superliner Gelmatic Eyeliner comes in black retractable packaging with colored ends. The colored strip at the bottom of the pencil matches with the color of the eyeliner, makes it easy to locate different shades (if they have been stored together).

Shades – L’Oreal Superliner Gelmatic Eyeliner has been launched in 5 shades. Surprisingly there is no black ! I bought L’Oreal Superliner Gelmatic Eyeliner Glamour Gold and Turquoise. Both the shades are incredibly beautiful and would look good against deeper skin tones.

Texture & Formula – L’Oreal Superliner Gelmatic Eyeliner has smooth texture that glides on smoothly without tugging or pulling. Formula is shimmery but doesn’t feel chunky or gritty whatsoever. Turqoise has smoother texture and has slightly metallic finish, also I like the color more than Glamour Gold just because of the finish. Glamour Gold on the other hand looks shimmery and doesn’t apply evenly, its buttery smooth but leaves gaps and you have to go over and over again to get an even line. Also tip tends to break and crumble if pressure is applied which is again a deal breaker since the quantity is already less.Pigmentation – Both of the shades have varied pigmentation. L’Oreal Superliner Gelmatic Eyeliner Turqoise has better color payoff than Glamour Gold

Staying Power – Contrary to brand’s claims L’Oreal Superliner Gelmatic Eyeliner isn’t smudgeproof. You rub your eyes once and the color is gone forever. It just fades and disappears. However I have worn it for almost 7 hours without smudging , only when I didn’t rub my eyes for that long. Also the formula isn’t waterproof. Glamour gold vanishes sooner than Turqoise.

Overall Thoughts

L’Oreal Superliner Gelmatic Eyeliner has nice buttery smooth texture that helps hassle-free application. Shades are bright and bold and color payoff is good, however that varies from shade to shade. None of them is long wearing or smudge-proof. I somehow had high expectations with this product after using L’Oreal Moist Matte lipstick from the same collection, however the product turned out to be a regular run-of-the-mill retractable eyeliner that disappears if you accidently rub your eyes.
