L’Oreal Paris Matte Top Coat & Gold Leaf Review Photos Swatches

I don’t have a regular matte top coat so when on a shopping spree, I picked up the matte top coat by L’Oreal and also their Gold Leaf top coat. Nail art requires a lot of time and precision so it is not really my kind of thing. Thus enter the need for interesting top coats.

Packaging– These come in regular L’Oreal Paris Le Vernis bottles, both with black caps.

Shade – Top Coat Matte is a regular matte top coat whereas Gold Leaf has shredded glossy leaves in a clear base.

Texture – Top Coat Matte is a little runny but nothing too difficultly so.  Gold Leaf is slightly thicker in consistency but not very jelly like either. It has fair amounts of glossy shreds and you need not fish for the particles while applying.

Pigmentation & Finish – Top Coat Matte require a single coat for the base to turn matte. However, the finish is not flat matte even if you layer it up. There is a slight bit of satiny finish to it. Not a very good option for intense matte finish lovers. In case of Gold Leaf, it depends on how much shreds you want on your nails. The best thing about a loreal nail polish is its brush, I just love their brushes. Naturally, such good quality brushes do help in locating and placing the gold shreds on the nails quite well.

Staying Power – Both stay on for good 5 days. The matte layer begins to get a little oily from the 3rd day and thereafter it looks a lot satiny which does not look too good. The gold flakes do not stay put after the 4th day as gradually one or two flakes start falling off. But it is not too bad an experience as I barely keep a nail paint on for more than 6-7 days.

L’Oreal Paris Matte Top Coat & Gold Leaf (Price 299INR for 5ml)

Overall Thoughts

The part is played well by the polishes but the prices are very high. 300 bucks for a 5 ml polish is way too much according to me. The matte polish could have been better and recently Maybelline’s Gold Digger collection has come up with a same polish as Gold Leaf at 145 INR with even more quantity if I am not wrong.

If you ask me you may give these a miss. As for matte top coat, Revlon has a polish at 190 INR for an 8ml bottle.  So nothing special, no reasons to go for such expensive polishes if a good brush as L’Oreal’s is of no big requirement for you.
