L’Oreal Maple Mocha Moist Matte Lipstick Review, Swatches, Photos

Part of the L’Oreal Moist Matte range, the Maple Mocha is a really yummy chocolatey chestnut brown shade.  L’Oreal has come out with so many new wonderful mattes, that it has been hard to resist.

Packaging – L’Oreal Maple Mocha comes in the coppery gold metallic case with the shade colour on the cover, making it easy to figure the one you need.  The only problem I face with picking from the three that I have, is that the similar shades, look almost exact on the little square on the tube.

Shade – When I first started wearing lip colour, all I ever purchased were various shades of brown. Somewhere down the line I figured I like rose and berry shades better and only bought those.  When I was trying out different shades at the L’oreal counter, this one made me feel really nostalgic.  I realised I didnt have a single nice brown any more.

The colour is described as Mocha, though this reminds me more of hot  milk chocolate.  It is a medium unadulterated brown.  I like the fact that even though it is matte, it doenst look very flat on the lips.  It has dimension.

Texture – Like most of the Moist Matte, this is matte without getting too drying on the lips. I certainly would stop at calling this comfortable but not overly moisturizing.  L’Oreal Maple Mocha goes on easily wihout any pulling or tugging.

Pigmentation – This definitely needs a couple of swipes to get a fully dense colour.  On the first go, there is a bit of minor patchiness, maybe since this is a lighter colour than the rest.  On the second go, there is enough coverage without increasing the depth of the colour.  I certainly like it more with two swipes.

Longevity – This lasts for about 4 to 6 hours on me.  When it starts fading there is not much of a stain left behind.  The other colour from this range, Spring Rossette, has a much clearer stain left behind.  Again, this is possibly because this is a lighter shade. Overall Thoughts

A throwback to browns – a colour that I really like.  L’Oreal Maple Mocha is very modern, usable and work friendly.  Very glad I picked this up.  I love the nice shade, good texture and longevity.  Look forward to adding more colours from this range.
