L’Oreal Color Riche Extraordinaire Rose Symphony Review Swatches

L’Oreal Color Riche Extraordinaire Rose Symphony (Rs 950 for 5.5ml) from nykaa.com

L'Oreal Color Riche Extraordinaire – Rose Symphony (1)

L’Oreal has been launching a number of new lip colours and formulas in the recent past.  This liquid lipstick has been eagerly awaited by me since I heard about its launch in the US.  I love the liquid formula since L’Oreal Color Riche Extraordinaire is easier to carry in the bag and I don’t have to worry about it melting in the horrid heat.

Packaging – It comes in a gold plastic case, that looks very similar to the L’oreal Moist Matte packaging, with a little window that shows the colour of the shade inside.  However as this is a liquid lipstick there is a screw top that resembles a gloss.  The applicator is a normal doe foot applicator.

Shade – Rose Symphony has been described as a medium but bright rose shade, however there is clearly no resemblance to the description.  The minute I opened it, it looked like a neon coral to me.  Yes, it has pink undertones, but on my lips it looks neon and very definitely coral.   This is currently launched only online, however my advise to everyone is, wait till it gets to the stores and check it out yourself before buying. Check out previously reviewed shade Rose Melody as well.

Texture – My fave liquid lipstick formula is a Chanel one – this one is clearly not in the same league.  L’Oreal Color Riche Extraordinaire looks a little lumpy and unfortunately applies also a little patchy.  For some reason the lipstick feels like its a bit old and therefore gone thick, but the manufacture is really recent.  It definitely takes a little work to get this smooth on the lips.  If you look really close, there is some sinking in the lines of the lip.  Maybe this has to do with the fact that coral doesn’t really go well on my naturally pinkish lips.

Pigmentation – The pigmentation is great for Rose Symphony that is a little different lighter than the shade of my lips.  It covers the lips in a single swipe and builds up on the colour for the next swipe.  It is very dense and there is no mistaking the colour.

Staying Power – Rose Symphony does not feel dry on the lips – it feels much more like a gloss than a lipstick.  The shade lasts quite well on the lips and stays on quite comfortably after a couple of coffees. In fact, even post meal there is a definite tint showing on the lips.  It sure scores on this front.

Overall Thoughts

A decent formula, however I question the high price.  I would have expected a much nicer formula based on price charged.  I think I made a bad choice on the shade, I do not look good in coral – much prefer dusty rose or berry shades.  I may try another shade from L’Oreal Extraordinaire range once I can swatch it in person in a store.

Hey thanks Mansi, still would have preferred something that was more true rose than coral. I agree the formula could have been a lot better

The colour looks lovely on you and not neonish in the slightest. Love the micro shimmer in it 🙂
