Lakme Toffee Nexus, Peony Goal 9 to 5 Matte Lipsticks Review

Few days back, I was out with my friends for a movie and we had some time to kill and guess what we ended up doing to kill the time. Yeah!!!! Easy guess, we ended up going through all the makeup counters of various brands. While we were going through one counter to another trying numerous makeup products, I happened to try out Lakme’s 9 to 5 matte lipstick. These lipsticks, as said, are specially designed to meet the requirement of a working woman. I loved all the shade, as they had so many of them that it was quite a task to find the shade I was looking for. I went to buy two shades which were – Lakme Toffee Nexus, Peony Goal 9 to 5 Matte Lipsticks

Packaging:  It comes in a very attractive packaging, which is of the colour that everyone girl is going crazy over, Rose Gold. The name of the range is printed on the front with white. The name of the shade is given on the bottom. It is the normal twist up lipstick, and is priced for INR 425. You can get this online or you can find it in any Lakme counter.

Shade :  Lakme Toffee Nexus is a beautiful brown based nude with pink undertones to it. It is absolutely a must buy nude shade for days at work when you really just want simple lips and more dramatic eyes. The colour is just perfect if layered under and other shades of lipsticks.

Lakme Peony Goal is like a dream. I was in love. First of all it’s a pink based nude with mauvish undertones and with a hint of glitter in it. Now when I say glitter, it just is a teeny tiny bit of shimmer that doesn’t look over-powering on lips. In fact it really looks pretty even if you wear it to work. I think traditional attire and this lipstick will be a killer combination.

Texture & Formula : The formula of these lipsticks is really creamy, well, of course as it’s a lipstick. Being a lipstick, it gives you a good amount of product and the colours are quite opaque. The formula is matte but isn’t drying at all. It is smooth, feels like a lip balm, and is moisturising and comfortable on lips.

The lipsticks glides on really smooth and one of the best things about these lipsticks is you can actually mix them with any other lipstick and create a new unique shade of your own.

Pigmentation : The pigmentation of product is quite opaque. Both Lakme Toffee Nexus & Peony Goal apply in a good one stroke and is comfortable to layer more than once. After the product sets on the lips it gets matte. It can be paired with other lip shades to make the colour look unique.

Staying Power :  The staying power of the 9 to 5 matte lipsticks is around 4-5 hours without touch ups. It does start to fade off in the middle of the lips first. With casual meals and drinks the products lasts up to 3- 4 hours and you might need a touch up.

Overall Thoughts

To sum up, I will not say Lakme Toffee Nexus, Peony Goal 9 to 5 Matte Lipsticks don’t have any drawbacks; it does have its own share of drawbacks. Since it’s a lipstick, it glides on super quick and that makes the application look un-presentable. So you have to take your time to apply the product on your lips…Haste makes waste goes on with this one surely!!! The lipstick does goes into your lines of you are having a bad lip day (Yeah!!!! We all have those dry and chapped lips days). I recommend you use a good lip liner if you are going to be wearing these lipsticks on their own as they do seem to bleed a bit.

There isn’t really a smell to it, just a little bit of fragrance.

Rating : I would give these 9 to 5 Matte Lipstick range 3/5 rating.
