Lakme Absolute Illuminate & Shine collection was launched during Lakme Fashion Week. I was quite curious and by looking at the teasers the products looked quite interesting. The idea of makeup + jewellery sounded just about right for someone like me.
Lakme Absolute Illuminate & Shine Range
The collection has 3 eye liners, Lip shimmers & 2 eyeshadow palettes – Gold & Silver. I have few products with me so lets see what I liked the most !
Lakme Absolute Precision Eye Artist Liner
I have received all the 3 shades – Burnished Brown, Emerald Green, Blue Sapphire. All the 3 are beautiful eyeliners and would compliment Indian complexion. I find them quite wearable as well. The packaging is sleek with a rubber grip, The eye liner tip is also fine and drawing a neat clean line is easy. The only downside is the price – Rs 850 per liner. Formula is quite long wearing though not completely smudge proof. It also works as a good eyeshadow base and can be worn slightly smudged for everyday makeup. All the three of them have shimmers in them that are quite finely milled and don’t feel gritty.
Lakme Absolute Illuminating Lip Shimmer (available in 15 shades for Rs 700 each)
Lakme Absolute Illuminating Lip Shimmer comes in black translucent packaging. The formula has loads of shimmer, the kind of finish I am not a fan of, however those who love shimmers would love these. The shimmer doesn’t feel chunky or gritty on the lips. The 3 shades I have are – Pink Flash, Tropical Shine, Crimson Blink. Crimson blink is a warm toned red with red shimmers, Pink Flash is a bright pink with purple-pink shimmers, Tropical Shine is copper-gold shade, that would also work as a shimmer top coat on other matte lipsticks.
The formula is smooth and feels comfortable on the lips. Color pay off is also good, however the scent of these remind me of cough syrup, which isn’t the most pleasant of scents.
Lakme Illuminating Eyeshadow Palette – Silver (Rs 995)
I was quite excited about the eyeshadow palette since lakme doesn’t have such palette in its range of makeup. The Lakme Illuminating Eyeshadow Palette – Silver has cool toned shades like grey, purple, taupe-silver, blue. The palette comes with a full size mirror and sponge tip applicator.
The eyeshadows have smooth but sheer formula. I didn’t notice much fall outs during application, though some of the shades were difficult to blend. In the below makeup look I have used Lakme Absolute Precision Eye Artist Liner as a base and the purple eyeshadow over it. Without a good base these eyeshadows wouldn’t show up nicely on the lids. Also I think gold has a much better selection of shades than the silver variant.
Here is the look I have come up with. I am wearing Lakme Absolute Illuminating Lip Shimmer in Pink Flash

That’s such a gorgeous look Shalini, you actually make the range look good 🙂
The gold palette is definitely much better in terms of texture and pigmentation along with the shade selection. I swatched it last week at a counter but somehow couldn’t convince myself to buy it.. Also, instead of such shimmery lipsticks, I think Lakme could’ve come up with a highlight and contour product/palette. The range actually failed to impress me. Even the eyeliners are such drab shades..nothing extraordinary and at Rs 850, they’re asking for too much..
