Lakme 9 To 5 Super Sunscreen (Rs 500 for 30 ml) available at Nykaa Summer is here and I can not imaging my life without a sunscreen. Even though my skin is dry , I like using gel formulas with matte finish. Recently Lakme launched two new sunscreens under 9 to 5 range “Lakme 9 To 5 Super Sunscreen”. Brand has come up with two different formulas – Mattifying & Hydrating.
Lakme 9 To 5 Super Sunscreen comes in a nice plastic pump bottle with golden caps. Both of them have 30 ml of product and SPF 50 PA+++. Formula has nice refreshing scent and slightly minty feel.
Lakme 9 To 5 Mattifying Super Sunscreen
I was expecting it to be a gel formula, but its in the form of a white fluid. Formula is good for people with oily skin since it doesn’t have that heavy greasy feel to it. Its pretty light weight and keeps face shine free. However I was quite disappointed to see the white cast/ layer it forms like many other sunscreens. No matter how much I massage it into my skin or wait, that white cast doesn’t seem to subside. It might be due to high SPF but that’s what makes it a no-go for me since I don’t wear makeup daily. If you wear makeup or BB cream, same can camouflage the white cast. Formula is Hypo allergenic, Dermatologist tested & non-comedogenic, so girls like me who face acne or breakouts can wear Lakme 9 To 5 Mattifying Super Sunscreen comfortably.
Lakme 9 To 5 Hydrating Super Sunscreen
Hydrating variant also has a slightly thicker and creamier consistency. This one is my favorite variant. Its perfect for those who have dry skin as it moisturizes without being greasy or oily. I have been wearing it almost everyday for the past two weeks and haven’t seen it clogging pores or causing breakouts. This is what I dread the most while using creamy sunscreens. Formula is Hypo allergenic, Dermatologist tested & non-comedogenic. It replaces the need of a moisturizer and keeps my skin supple and free from dry patches.
Overall Thoughts
I like how Lakme has stepped up their game and introduced two different variants that will cater to the needs of most of the people. Packaging is user & travel friendly. I only need twice a pea size amount and it covers my face and neck. I liked Lakme 9 To 5 Super Sunscreen Hydrating formula more than mattifying since latter one leaves a white cast that I am not comfortable to go out with. Only hitch is the price, but looking at the high sun protection both claim of, its worth the money specially if you spend lot of time outdoors.
Ratings – Mattifying – 4/5, Hydrating – 4.5/5

Thanks for the review Shalini. I am running out of Sunscreen and was planning to buy one of these. I have already tested the mattifying super sunscreen and its whitecast repelled me like anything. Will test the hydrating one and buy if found appropriate. <3

Sure Jiya, The hydrating one is good and you can skip moisturizer while using it
