I have been in the look out for a good make up fixing spray so that I could make my makeup last longer on hot summer months. Here in Kolkata the extremely humid weather makes sure that we face a pathetic makeup meltdown and other embarrassments associated with it. That’s when I came across Kryolan Derma Color Camouflage System Fixing Powder. The Derma fixing spray, which I was looking for, was unavailable in my local market at that time.

To start with, I have oily face and I sweat a lot especially around my mouth, my forehead and along my temple. I was a bit apprehensive about the powder, but went along to purchase it as I did not have any other options then. I bought the bigger tub so that it would last me long. It has a shelf life of 4 years which is fair enough.

Coming to the packaging: It comes in a white round tub with a perforated lid on top upon which a sticker is pasted. You are supposed to remove in order to apply. On top of it is a bigger lid meant to close the tub. I did not remove the whole sticker but tore a bit of it so that 2-3 perforations are open, which is enough to provide me with the required amount of powder. The packaging is a lot inconvenient since quite some powder gets wasted every time I apply.

The powder is very finely milled, slightly tinted and blends like a dream. It is difficult to handle this extremely fine milled powder as the packaging is not proper. The powder is mildly scented which does not linger for long once applied.

Post makeup, I take a buffing brush, pour some Kryolan Derma Color Camouflage System Fixing Powder from the perforations on the lid and apply on a buffing motion all over my face with a light hand. After application, my face seems a bit whiter and smoother which however paves way to an even finish and the powder becomes translucent. The end result is a very smooth face with no patchiness, cakey finish or evident traces. My makeup wears on for about 5 hours without meltdown on a warm day, and for about 3.5 hours on a very sultry and humid day with occasional patting with a dry tissue. At night however, I always get a wear time of good 6 hours.

Cons:

1. Inconvenient packaging which leads to wastage of products
2. Not travel friendly

And I can’t think of any more Cons other than these!
