There are a number of Indian cosmetics brands that have cropped up in the market and I find that a number of them offer stellar quality combined with ancient knowledge to give us a highly customized product, just right for our weather conditions.Iraya Wheatgerm Facial Massage Cream Review Photos (2)

Iraya is one such brand that makes some amazing products.  The wheatgerm facial massage cream intrigued me by its name and so I got it to check out what it does.

Packaging – Most of Iraya’s creams and scrubs come in a similar jar packaging.  A small wide glass jar with a silver screw on lid.  The mouth is large enough for you to put you fingers in comfortably and use as much as you need.  I know, some people don’t like open jar packaging as it messes with the active ingredients.  I don’t mind this much.  Iraya Wheatgerm Facial Massage Cream comes a convenient jar.  I like it.

Texture & Formula – Iraya Wheatgerm Facial Massage Cream is a light yellow in colour and has a pretty thick consistency.  I feels a little heavy when you apply it.  You are supposed to use it as a massage cream, as the name suggests – take a little in your palm and massage all over your face.   The cream takes a bit of time to get absorbed, but as it is meant for an easy massage, this is a good thing.  I took about a pea size and it took a good couple of minutes of massaging to get fully absorbed.  Even after that I can feel the cream on my skin – it creates a bit of a barrier.

I have normal to combination skin and I still get some pimples on my forehead and jaw line.  I find this cream too heavy for daily use, especially during the day.  My face starts sweating if I apply this.  On the other hand, if I use it at night when I’ve got the AC on, it works beautifully to combat the dry artificial environment.

Fragrance – I cant quite put my finger on it but this cream smells like old fashioned soap.  Not floaral or fruity, just the basic soapy alkaline type of fragrance.  Something also smells vaguely like saffron at times, but I guess that’s my mind playing tricks after seeing the light yellow colour.

Overall thoughts

Iraya Wheatgerm Facial Massage Cream is really nice if you have dry skin or are constantly exposed to the Air conditioning.  There is enough moisturizing and hydrating properties that make this perfect for quenching dry skin.  I will be using this maybe once a week to give my skin a jolt of hydration when needed.  Definitely a treat at a very reasonable price.
