Inglot Eye Makeup Base Review Photos Price

I am very lazy about applying eye makeup base/eye shadow primer. Primarily coz I don’t usually pre-plan what I am going to do with my eyes till I am actually getting ready and then it is too much of a hassle. But the fact is that I do need an eye makeup base. Firstly, because I have oily eye lids, hence eyeshadows tend to fade off or look messy in a few hours. Secondly, because I have very visible veins and pigmentation on my lips, which need to be covered up if, I want the eye shadows to show up on my lids. I was not interested in spending so much on a MAC paint pot, coz I knew it would be a waste on me. So I wandered into the store, tried Inglot Eye Makeup Base and found it apt. But I did not buy it then, owing to the horrible customer service there, that’s one of the reasons I don’t feel like shopping with them at all. Anyway, that’s a story for another day. I later bought it online from Nykaa.

Product Claims – This base helps keep eye makeup perfect for longer. Its rich formula prevents creasing, transfer, and smudging, turning the eye area into the perfect blank canvas.

Hypoallergenic. Waterless formula, paraben free formula, not tested on animals.

Packaging – Inglot Eye Makeup Base comes in a black box with the name and description in white. A signature packaging of Inglot. The eye makeup base comes in a glossy black tub. Though attractive I do not like the tub packaging, as it tends to get messy. Especially in the summers here in Delhi, coz the products starts to melt a little. It makes it difficult to carry while travelling also. Especially, when I am travelling to places with tropical humid climates. I would have preferred a tube packaging.

Texture, Shade & Finish – It has a thick, creamy mousse like consistency. The shade is beige coloured. It spreads and blends on the lid easily and adapts to the lid. They have a deeper shade for dark skinned beauties. To my knowledge they only have two shades, one beige and one deep brown. But I think it covers the ground for all skin tones, as you will be using it on a tiny area.

It has a cream to powder finish. A tiny bit – a really tiny bit is enough to cover both your eyelids. Going overboard will cause creasing. (The amount taken for swatch in the photo can easily be used to cover 4 pairs of eyes.)

My Experience

Like I mentioned before I have oily, pigmented eyelid. Inglot Eye Makeup Base has proved to be a boon for them. I take a tiny amount and blend it into my lids, dust it lightly with powder. I take this step as precaution owing to my oily lids, but it is not needed as such as it has a cream to powder finish. Eyeshadows blend easily on top of this base and stay put. It makes the eyeshadow colours pop and increases the stay time by quite a few hours. I especially tried it with my less pigmented eyeshadows, not only did it show up on my lids. It stayed on for a long time.

Now the con, it will take time and experience for you to understand the consistency of the product and the amount needed. The first few times I did not get it right. The trick is to take a very tiny amount and work on one lid at a time with your ring finger. If you have very oily lids like mine, dust it very lightly with loose powder. It doesn’t completely eliminate the creasing, but reduces it to a large extent. DO NOT go overboard with the amount of product, or it will definitely crease.

Overall Thoughts

If you have oily pigmented lids and are looking for a pocket friendly eye makeup base which will last you a very long time and you do not want to spend on MAC paint pots, Inglot Eye Makeup Base. The INGLOT Eye Makeup base is a long lasting base, which helps your eyeshadow pop and stay put for a long time. A tiny amount goes a long way; going overboard with it can definitely cause creasing. Application and judging the amount required might be a little tricky first few times, but once you get a knack of it, it will become easier to work with. Overall a product which stands up to its claims and is worth the money.

Rating – 4/5

Holy Molly! I had bought this for Rs 420/- Surely they are going berserk with the pricing! And I completely agree with you on everything! Initially, even I struggled to figure out the right amount and once I did, there was no looking back. It was with this primer that for the first time I started appreciating brown shadows.

And yes, the customer service in the stores are horrible! I really don’t understand why those snooty sales people are employed and how are they bringing business to the brand. Or is it that brand training them to behave in such manners?

True. It takes time to know how to work with this one.

And about the customer service, the way they treat you, you feel like you are begging for stuff, not buying them. One SA actually said that she doesn’t have the time to keep showing me what i want, so hurry up. I was taken aback. Just got the stuff i already selected and left the store.

The eye makeup base is making the colours pop. Sounds quite promising.
