My topmost priority while travelling is to find out a hotel that not only looks hygienic but also has good ratings on trusted platforms like Trip Advisor. Udaipur was on my “places to visit” list for the longest time however due to the distance from delhi along with small kid , the plan kept on delaying. Last month we decided to tick it off our list and travelled to the city of lakes. Hotel we chose was just the right property with the most spectacular view of Lake Pichola – Hotel Jagat Niwas Palace.
Hotel Jagat Niwas Palace is a heritage hotel. It used to be a Haveli which later turned into a hotel however the place still looks royal and elegant. Built on the lake side the glowing white property is adorned with numerous flower pots. Jagat Niwas Palace is an early 17th century ‘Haveli’. It is a heritage boutique hotel and is highly acclaimed for it’s location and for the stunning view that it provides.
We reached the hotel after a bit of difficulty when the cab driver decided to drop us almost 15 away from the hotel. We were lost and walking with luggage was no joke. Finally after battling through slopes and numerous stairs we reached the property only to realise that the cab driver was clueless about the location and dropped us on the gates of City Palace and asked us to walk to the hotel. GPS wasn’t of good use and the hotel has no sign boards anywhere. Well long story cut short we discovered the right way to reach the hotel next day and commuting became easy-breezy.
The check in was quick and we reached out clean and bright room in less than 20 minutes (after all the formalities were done and we requested for early check in). I LOVED the huge windows overlooking lake pichola , we used to sit on the couch next to the window whole day long enjoying the view , cool breeze and sun. Feb was the best month to visit the city , it wasn’t too cold or hot.
The restaurant “Jharokha” offers indian & continental cuisine. We loved the food there and the staff if quite cooperative. You can find 70% of the guests from european countries staying at the hotel.
Jagat Niwas Palace doesn’t offer in-room dining but that wasn’t much of an issue with us as we loved sitting in the restaurant. The bathroom was clean so was the room.
The hotel also provides sunset boat rides in lake pichola. You can get regular boats or go for Luxury one – Jagat Sagar. We loved the experience. For more you can watch the Udaipur Sunset Boat Ride Video.
Overall we had a wonderful stay at the Jagat Niwas Palace. You can watch the sunset from the rooftop of the hotel which is a good place for gin&tonic + snacks once the sun goes down.
