Guerlain Ombre Eclat Eye Primer ( $37 for 0.08 oz)Product Claims : Guerlain Ombre Eclat Eye Primer is composed of smoothing and priming elements that ensure long-lasting, crease-proof color. After application, your eye will be revived and ready for makeup application.
I was looking for a good quality eye primer, and although Guerlain is expensive when in comparison, it has been one of the few eye primers endorsed by a top makeup artist friend of mine. As I was on the hunt for a good quality eye primer that is going to really make my eye makeup last longer, I bought it.
Packaging: A cardboard square holds a soft pouch, in which a shiny steel-colored square package resides, its rounded edges beckoning the user to open and see what’s inside. Press the thin bar on the side and the lid opens. A reasonably sized mirror, a super soft brush and the primer itself is inside.
Product: Guerlain Ombre Eclat Eye Primer, on first touch, might seem to you slightly less creamy than it looks. However, pick up a bit of the product with the brush and apply, and you would quickly understand why. It spreads easily, and a little goes a long way. I generally use the soft brush provided with the primer or my fingertips. The brush’s quality is to be noted – it is very soft and great for application, and although tiny, does the job very well. The main reason why I bought this was to set my cream eye shadows without creasing, as well as the glitter shadows which have high fallout ratio. I must say, without the primer, my cream shadows barely lasted me a couple of hours before fading and slowly moving to the corners of my eye. However, after using this, I was stumped to see the way the eye shadows behaved for well over 6 hours. In fact, the claim of no creasing is absolutely true when it comes to this color, and you can actually pile on the color more to make everything look more vibrant.
In the swatch, I have applied a cream eye shadow on the left side, and the same thing over primer on the right. You can see how the color is much more prominent and noticeable on the right side. Pros:
- Gorgeous packaging
- Comes with a lovely and useful applicator
- Easy to apply
- Makes eye shadows last a long time
- Does not let eye shadows crease
I know, at $37,Guerlain Ombre Eclat Eye Primer is not cheap. Plus the only Guerlain store I know of is in Mumbai and I am not going there any time soon. However, I think this is going to be a permanent product because of the way it really make the colors pop out and make them last.
