Forest Essentials Indian Rose Absolute Hair Cleanser Review Price Photos

So when I came across Indian Rose Absolute Hair Cleanser from one of my favourite brands, I had to get it. It has an impressive list of ingredients including Reetha in it which is a natural cleanser and is found in most of the herbal cleansers I have grown up using. I was very excited to pick it up. I did pick up the sample size of 50ml and tried it before picking up the full size.

Forest Essentials Indian Rose Absolute Hair Cleanser Review

Before I start reviewing this product, let me give a fair idea about my hair type. I have mid-back length thin, limp and lifeless kind of hair. I have never had much volume, but I had fairly decent hair till I got typhoid and had a relapse. The medication caused a lot of hair loss and I still haven’t made up for it. I am very careful about not chemically treating my hair or using much of heating tools except once in a blue moon.

Over the years I have managed to grow back some of it, but it’s still thin and limp. My scalp is normal, it gets oily or dry as per weather conditions. Thankfully I do not have dandruff to add to my woes. I am careful about using natural herbal products or mild cleansers for my hair.

Packaging – Indian Rose Absolute Hair Cleanser comes in an attractive transparent plastic bottle with a nozzle on top and a clear lid. The neck of the bottle has a golden detailing. Overall the packaging is attractive and luxurious looking. The fact that it has a nozzle is an added advantage, coz you can take the right amount of product you need without causing wastage. It is quite expensive for a shampoo after all. It is travel friendly, though I prefer taking the sample size bottles with me for travelling instead of the huge big bottle.

Colour, Consistency & Fragrance – The shampoo is honey coloured and has the texture of natural honey. By which I do not mean the thick honey we get in the markets. But the natural honey which is runny and semi-liquid consistency. It smells strongly of rose which I love, as it is my favourite fragrance in the world after vanilla.

My Experience

How I like to use Indian Rose Absolute Hair Cleanser is, by taking one and half pump of shampoo from the nozzle, diluting it with ¾ cup of water and applying it on my wet scalp and slowly massaging it all over my head. It lathers up pretty well for an Ayurvedic shampoo. The lather further cleans my hair as well.

The amount I take is enough for my entire hair length. On the days when I have oiled my hair, I wet my hair with lukewarm water, take one pump from the nozzle and directly apply it on my wet scalp and clean it and wash it thoroughly. I then take a second pump of product and dilute it and then go through the process again to clean my scalp and hair thoroughly. I find that diluting the product lathers it up better and also reduces the need of more products.

It smells strongly of roses and my hair smells of the same fragrance for a day and half after which the smell disappears. It makes my hair clean and fresh and my hair doesn’t start getting greasy until the third day after the wash.

One bottle can last easily upto 3 months once you start using the diluting technique. Having said that, people with very oily scalp may not find this shampoo effective, or they will have to use large amount to clean their scalp thoroughly which will definitely be an issue owing to the price. And considering the ingredient list contains cold pressed oils, it may make their scalp greasier the next day itself which defeats the purpose of shampooing.

My suggestion to people with very oily scalp would be to get the sample size first and try out before buying the bigger size, though even that is quite expensive. Indian Rose Absolute Hair Cleanser would work great for people with normal or dry scalp. It works well for me. Though it doesn’t volumize my hair much but after the wash my hair doesn’t feel so lifeless. Over regular use, I have seen that my hair fall has also reduced which is a great source of joy for me. And after all I have gone through with my hair, I am scared to use the chemically volumizing shampoos.

Though I would love some suggestions for the same in natural/Ayurvedic shampoos. I started using the conditioner a month or so back only, will give my views on the same soon. You can also check out the review of Forest Essentials Mashobra Honey & Vanilla Hair Cleanser & Conditioner

Forest Essentials Indian Rose Absolute Hair Cleanser (895 for 200ml)

Overall Thoughts

Forest Essentials Indian Rose Absolute Hair Cleanser is a great cleanser for people with dry or normal scalp and who are looking for natural mild cleanser, not loaded with chemicals. People with oily scalp might find it insufficient; hence I advise them to try the sample size first. It is quite expensive for a shampoo but that’s given seeing the list of natural ingredients in it. Overall it is a decent shampoo for people with hair like mine and it also helps in reducing hair loss, it helped me. So, I am totally sold on it.

Rating – 4.5/5 (I wish they would mention that it is for normal to dry hair and I also hope they don’t increase the price more)
