I was looking for a scrub which takes care of all those needs without drying my skin and saving me from running for a facial every two months. As always I turned to my favourite brand for skin care and bought Forest Essentials Hand Pounded Organic Fruit Scrub. And as always I wasn’t disappointed and got exactly what I needed.
I love using scrubs. Exfoliating your skin at regular intervals is very important. It helps to cleanse your skin from within, unclogs your pores, removes blackheads and whiteheads and also helps in removing dead skin. But, again it is very important not to overdo it and be gentle about it. Especially when exfoliating your face, you need to use an effective scrub but in a gentle manner. I have combination skin with minimal issues. But I do get dry patches and white heads from time to time. And in summers I get tanned if I am not careful.
Product Claims – This nourishing face scrub, hand-pounded to the right consistency, blends fresh organically grown Dates, Peaches and Almond seeds with rich Apricot Kernel oil, pure Honey and finely milled Almonds to gently exfoliate dull cells, revealing a beautifully polished and glowing complexion. Derived from the unique Fal Yukth Gharshan Lep, this facial scrub uses a variety of fruit with exfoliating properties along with other natural plant extracts. These ingredients are fermented by placing them in terracotta jars buried under the ground for many months, and then blended with herb, root and flower infusions to create a highly nourishing and deep cleansing scrub.
Key Ingredients – Rose Flower Extract, Date Fermented fruit pulp, Peach Fermented fruit pulp, Sweet Almond seed meal, Apricot Kernel Oil, Glycerine, Walnut Shell Powder, Bael Leaf powder, Vetiver Root Extract, Honey, Koshataki Powder, Vitamin E
Packaging – Forest Essentials Hand Pounded Organic Fruit Scrub has the signature luxurious packaging. It comes in a tub style packaging with a glass bottom jar and a golden cap and a plastic stopper on the inside. Unlike that of the Madhulika Lep I find this packaging easy to use for the scrub, as there is no wastage of product this way. I wouldn’t say it is travel friendly, but I do not need to carry such a heavy-duty scrub with me on travels unless it is going to be a long one.
Texture & Fragrance – The consistency of this scrub is thick and sticky. It is dark brown in colour and looks like some fruit pulp. The scrub particles are not consistent. Since it is an Ayurvedic preparation, it is understandable. But they aren’t very coarse either. Since the actual scrub is very thick in texture, you need to dilute it before using. I prefer using it on wet face, it spreads easily. Since you are using on wet face, only a small amount is needed to cover the entire face. It smells of crushed rose petals and something fruity. I really love the smell of this scrub. But people who don’t like organic natural fragrances may not like it.
My Experience
After cleansing my face I like to apply Forest Essentials Hand Pounded Organic Fruit Scrub directly on my wet face. It easily spreads on my entire face and neck since it is wet. I leave it on, on my skin for about 3-5 minutes to let my skin absorb all the goodness from the product. I then wet my hands with lukewarm water and gently start scrubbing my face concentrating on my nose, mouth and neck area. I then wash it off gently with lukewarm water. At once, my skin feels soft and smooth.
With the first usage itself it removes the dead skin and reduces the tan. And over regular usage of once a week it has gone a long way in removing my whiteheads. It does remove blackheads, as I used it on a cousin, but people with heavy blackheads might find this scrub insufficient because you need something coarser to remove them.
My skin feels cleansed thoroughly and nourished after using this scrub. I feel cleaner from within. Only a tiny amount of product is needed and one jar has lasted me a little over six months, this is my second jar. It does everything it claims. It cleanses my skin deeply, polishes it beautifully, removes all the dead skin and whiteheads, unclogs the pores and nourishes my skin.
Forest Essentials Hand Pounded Organic Fruit Scrub (Rs 1675 for 50 g)
Overall Thoughts
I love Forest Essentials Hand Pounded Organic Fruit Scrub. It does everything I need for me. My skin feels nourished and cleansed from within and I love the rosy smell. People with sensitive skin should test this product before buying as all the ingredients are natural and the scrub particles a little inconsistent.
Some might find it pricey, but a tiny amount goes a long way and one jar lasts for a long time plus it saves me a lot of money over parlour trips for facials, so I find the price justified. I would repurchase it again and again.
