Etude House Play Nail Polish 50 Review, Swatches

Etude House Play Nail Polish (S$ 6 for 8 ml)Etude House Play Nail Polish 50 Review, SwatchesEtude House has a lot of different textures and finishes in its range of polishes.  I picked up one from the shimmer range – a deep purple with a very intense blue shimmer running through.  The shimmer and glitter polishes do come at a slightly higher price tag. Shade – What is it about complex glittery colours that’s draws me inexplicably towards them?  I must be having about 4 or 5 glittery purples and yet I can justify buying “Just one more” :).  When I put this bottle in my shopping cart I certainly felt like I was indulging my inner child with “just one more toy”.   Fortunately when I got back I was pleasantly surprised, this is not like any of the other purple glitters that I own.

Etude House Play Nail Polish 50 has a deep almost blackish purple base that goes on like a jelly but looks a lot more opaque.  The blue shimmer is very very dense, and almost completely engulfs the entire colour.  Once applied it is difficult to exactly figure which is the base colour and which is the shimmer.

Texture and Formula – Being a shimmer I expected this to be slightly thicker and tricky to apply.  However this goes on exactly like a cream nail polish.  The shimmer, though very visible does not feel at all bumpy.  It is extremely smooth to the touch.

Etude House Play Nail Polish 50 is thin, easy to apply and levels itself.  It is almost a single coater, but I use two, to give it a more polished look.   A single coat looks more jelly like and the shimmer is clearer.  With the next coat the shimmer does get hidden a little and it looks darker but just as lovely. Etude House Play Nail Polish 50 Review, SwatchesLongevity – Etude House Play Nail Polish 50 stays put for about 4 to 5 days without chipping.  I tend to start seeing tip wear by the end of the 4th day however.   It is not really easy to remove either, the purple polish strips off easily and all you are left with is blue shimmer on an otherwise bare nail.  This is actually the only time you can see the real colour of the shimmer – blue.

Overall Thoughts

Etude House Play Nail Polish 50 is a real beauty.  Not something I would wear to work but you can easily carry this off for a night out.  The vampy dark shade is lifted to new heights by the chameleon shimmer.
