The quest for a youthful face and baby like skin takes us to all sorts of places.  I love experimenting with skincare, partly because I already have pretty good skin and can afford to try new stuff without much pain.

Etude House Aloe Moistfull Soothing Lotion is recommended for oily skin with blemishes.  The word “soothing” is part of the name itself, making it very tempting.

My skin is oily which leads to pimples and blemishes in the summer.  Ever since I left my thirties behind me, most SAs try to sell me heavy duty anti ageing regimens.  Unfortunately these only clog my pores, create break outs and make my face look like hell.  The SA that sold me this, didn’t really bother to check my age, just looked at my skin and recommended a product that is clearly aimed at a more youthful audience.  I guess that did the trick J

Formula and Texture – Etude House Aloe Moistfull Soothing Lotion is soft and watery, but not very runny.  A very little drop goes a long way – a tiny bit spreads all over your face completely.  When initially applied it feels like a gel has been put over the face but then  gets absorbed within a minute or two, after which you can’t feel it at all.

The fragrance is mild and fresh, something like Elizabeth Arden Green Tea.  It is very mild and disappears after 15 minutes or so.

My experience  – Etude House calls this a “Milk Lotion containing enriched Baobab Tree extracts and Organic Aloe”.  The milk description is pretty spot on as the consistency feels like milk in your hands.   The mild fragrance helps in the overall soothing effect.

I have used Etude House Aloe Moistfull Soothing Lotion for about a week now and find this to be a great moisturizer that makes the skin feel really comfortable and hydrated as well.  This is perfect for use in the summer when you are sweating it out during the day, but have to protect yourself from the harsh AC air indoors.  It makes my skin supple and smooth on application.  I use this at night and the next morning my skin feels normal and not stretched or uncomfortable.

Overall thoughts

This bottle of Etude House Aloe Moistfull Soothing Lotion is going to keep me company through our Indian Summer well into the monsoon season.  I love the way this feels.  However if you are looking for something with anti ageing properties or something to address specific skin concerns, then you need to look elsewhere, this won’t do.   It will also not work for someone with dry flaky skin as the hydration is mild.

If you have oily or combination skin, this is just right for you.  I do wish this had an SPF as well, so I could wear it alone during the day.
