As I come to almost the end of my annual subscription, I am beginning to feel a kind of fatigue setting into the box. When the first boxes started shipping there was a lot of excitement, this was amplified by the fact that each box was individually curated and you were crossing your fingers hoping you got the goodies you absolutely wanted. Most of the Indian boxes now seem to have settled into a one box for all model with bigger sizes and lesser known brands. My Envy Box May 2016 has two brands that were completed unknown to me and one that I heard of only through earlier boxes. Given there are only 4 products in the box, this felt a little disappointing.
Here’s what I got –
- Roots and Above Lemon Essential Oil – 10ml, Full size 50ml for Rs 375. This is supposed to flush out body toxins, purify skin and act as a bug repellent. I am almost scared to smell this for fear that this will mimic the smell of citronella oil, a strong mosquito repellent. There seem to be a myriad of additional uses such as an astringent for oily skin, reduction of hairfall, treatment of dandruff etc. Being an essential oil you need to mix this with a carrier oil or lotion. I am not sure how much I will use this, as I prefer single bottle solutions. Mixing and using just seems too much of a bother. We’ll see.
- Votre Botanical Toning Mist 50ml, Full size 100ml for Rs 800. I have a new found love for toning and general face mists. They seem to work great when you want to freshen up your face without going through the bother of doing your full make up again. I tried this and even though the smell is a little on the stronger side, I know I will use this at some point.
- Island Kiss Lip Moisturizer – Peurto Berry Blush – Full size 14gm for Rs 499. Being a lip product junkie makes this the most loved piece in the box. I know I have a few dozen other lip glosses, moisturizers, etc but am still happy to get this. Made from Kokum butter, organic almond essential oil, strawberry, raspberry and blackcurrant it sure sounds delicious.
- Gulnare Handmade Skincare – Seaflo Face Wash – Full size 120ml Rs 350. This sounds interesting although I have to admit Gulnare is not a brand I have heard of before. This is made from Cucumber, wheatgerm and grape seed oil. This does sound pretty refreshing for summer use. I will start this one immediately.
- Kiehl’s voucher – This is actually an invitation to visit the store for a complimentary skin consultation and complimentary samples appropriate for your skin. Now I don’t use much of Kiehl’s but they have been relatively generous with samples everytime I have visited them. I will still use this and go down to their store.
This is an overall nice box – use for most of the products though not something terribly exiting.
Overall Thoughts
I am going to use most of the products in the My Envy Box May 2016 even though the brands are new to me. Lets hope they live up to my expectations. The Kiehl’s voucher is a nice touch and I would love to get a skin consultation from them.
