Yesterday was my husband’s birthday and as always we were planning to go out for dinner to some new place and after thinking about a bunch of places, we decided to celebrate it at Eau De Monsoon – Le Meridian, Cannaught Place New Delhi. Eau De Monsoon serves contemporary Continental, Indian, French & European cuisines.
Eau De Monsoon is an in-house restaurant of Le Meridian. It’s a chic and peaceful fine-dining place. I liked the contemporary but comfortable sitting arrangements and interiors. It was dimly lit with soft music playing in background.
The moment we entered the restaurant, humble serving staff greeted and took us to our table. They served us a welcome drink that we were supposed to drink in one shot, it had layers of flavours. I somehow found the taste weird because I couldn’t drink it in one go, my husband liked it though.
He decided to have wine. I am not much into alcohol based drinks so on the recommendation of our server I ordered Eau De Monsoon’s signature mocktail , which was quite refreshing.
In starters we decide to order one chicken and on fish dish because I love sea food and my husband doesn’t. I most of the time ask for recommendations, and server suggested Mustard Tandoori Sole Fish & Chicken Tikka Duo – Curry & sundried tomato. Oh boy that fish tasted amazing ! It was adequately spiced and succulent. That tikka duo was good too, but fish starter bagged the first prize 😉 Mint Chutney was served with the starters.Excuse me for the picture quality, lighting was not favourable and I avoided use of Flash. After the starters we were served Watermelon Sorbet to clean our palates and prepare it for the main course.
For the main course we decided to try out the Fenugreek Chicken Curry, which was delicious however it had more of a thick sauce than ‘curry’. I liked how the dish was so flavourful without being hot or spicy.
Vegetable Dum-Biryani had layers of flavours. We both loved it! It was served with equally delicious Raita.
Black lentil, it was ok-ish. Bit bland and had nothing exciting. I was expecting it to as good as dal makhani but alas !
Eau De Monsoon has a limited menu for each cuisine. There were around 12 starters (both veg and non-vegetarian) and 12 main course dishes. Menu also offers 5 types of Mini breads. We taste Garlic & Butter Naan & Paratha. They are miniatures of breads that we eat generally.
To finish off the dinner they served some chocolates and liquid Paan. I liked the idea of serving paan in a shot glass.
Overall I liked the flavours and calm chic ambience. Service staff is humble and attentive. I am definitely going back to try other cuisines.
