How To Dress Up For College On Budget

Dressing up for college is one task which we neither can ignore nor can complete in time because we are always late for classes! I can understand all you college going girls’ pain as I myself am one. Also, pocket money is low, the cosmetics at the store are tempting (and each time you visit a mall the SAs greet you with their new launch) and prices are sky high! To help you dress up for college on a budget and in time, I have listed down some helpful points that will come handy:

Denims are our best friend and for some, the trustworthy patialas/leggings. It is wise to keep two sets of jeans, one in cool blue and another in royal blue for the summer. Additionally you may keep a black one, but I do not think it wise to use it when the sun soars high. Patiala sets consisting of a bottom and dupatta are available everywhere. Multicoloured ones and floral printed ones are best as you will be able to mix and match with kurtis of different colours.

The best way to experiment with dressing is by getting yourself different types of tops and kurtis. You can mix and match all the time and create new looks each time. This is refreshing and will also ensure that you do not cross the budget.

Pintuck kurtis are best for all seasons. They are stylish, affordable, come in an array of colours, can be worn with denims and salwars/leggings alike and they help you avoid tan! Stack up on colourful pintucks and wear to your liking.

College girls look their best when they wear simple accessories. We all have that lucky charm bracelet that goes with every attire and you never EVER leave the house without wearing it! Believe me you better stick to it. It is unnecessary to match your accessories to your dress everyday. Remember, a college going look is meant to be casual and simple. Too much thought put to your dressing ruins it all. However, you may keep a spare bracelet and wear it on special occasions.

Studs or small jhumkas are pretty enough. If you are wearing denims, wear stone studs that need not necessarily match your top. Also pearl studs look very sweet both with ethnic and western. Oxidize jhumkas which are not too attention grabbing are good enough for ethnic dressing. Pretty studs and lovely jhumkas are available almost everywhere. My suggestion is to look for those in the local market stalls. They keep lovely collections and you have a fair advantage of bargaining!

The important part: makeup! I can understand how hard it is to resist the temptation of buying a fabulous lipstick that has just launched! But if I were you, I would wait few months for the reviews to come up and to expect great discounts (also start saving meanwhile) and then if the odds would be in my favour, would pick one up! Brands like Maybelline, Elle 18, Lakme have a wide variety of cosmetics especially for young girls. Their prices are good, most of the times available at discounted rates and the quality amazing.

Save the dark colours for day/night out and wear the light colours on college. Prep your face with a sunscreen and then apply a good compact with SPF in it. Then thinly line your eyelids or kohl-line your eyes but never do both with a black liner/kohl. Put on a gloss/lip balm/lipstick of your choice and you are ready!

Always keep a spare lip product in your bag so that you can put it on, on your way if you’re late; and might as well keep your pressed powder in the bag for that matter.

Now you can dress up quickly and affordably. I am sure many of this stuff you knew already as of course we are situation bound. For those of you who did not know, you can thank me later! Until then have a nice day!
