I am totally an essential oil and perfume person!

I make my aroma candles at home!!
What I would describe as my spa day is a nice hair massage with my special oil , which has hibiscus flowers boiled in coconut oil! and then I take steam on my face with a mixture of water and vitamin E and simple water steam slowly on scalp.Followed by a shampoo with dove damage repair and conditioner.

Then I put a few drops of lavender oil on the comb and comb through my hair when my hair is almost dry!

Make a Plan Get Organized Music, candles, clean sheets and towels will help inspire you as you plan your home spa day.

Hair spa is usually made up of massage oil, hair mask application, shampooing and deep conditioning. The four essentials are: Oil massage, shampoo, mask and conditioner.

1st step: Massage your scalp with olive oil. Massage your head with this. This increases blood circulation and boosts hair growth.

2nd step : Dip a towel in warm water and squeeze the excess water out. Wrap the towel around the hair.

3rd step: Wash your hair 🙂 Now, wash the hair with a mild shampoo. Use only cold water as hot water is harmful to the hair roots.

4thstep: use a conditioner. Rinse it off after half an hour with just warm water and no shampoo.

5th step: Lastly, a hair mask
    Avocado mask:
Make a mix of 1 avocado, 1 egg and a little lemon juice. Apply this concoction to wet hair and leave on for 15 minutes. Leave the mask on for 20 minutes, then rinse with a mild shampoo.

Super quality & NATURAL HAIR SPA TREATMENT AT HOME 🙂
I have been doing hair spa at home since a few months and I find the result as good as getting it done in a salon.

    Roshni Nair

I had long hair in my school days which was taken care by my mom but eventually as I went to college my hair was neglected much and this resulted into loss of my hairs quality and quantity as well. By the time I realized it my hair was almost destroyed so I had to cut my hair till shoulder length. But then I decided to make up for my loss. So eventually I started oiling my hair. Earlier I used to oil and wash my hair then I realized that my hair need more. I used to take care of my food I stared eating more of leafy vegetables and protein rich foods.
Hair spa is a concept which has started gaining importance much recently so till year before I was not aware that there exist hair spa too. I happened to come across a good article on hair care where the writer had suggested different types of hair spa.
It seemed to me very easy as its DIY plus I could save parlor expenses too. So now I have hair spa at home atleast twice a week.
Firstly I massage my hair with atleast 4-5 different oils in equal amount. They would be mainly Olive Oil, Almond oil, Vitamin-E oil, Ayurvedic Oil ( suggested by my Ayurvedic physician) and yeah recently I have started adding Dove’s Elixir too. I massage from scalp till end of my hair. I massage my scalp with my fingers in round movement and keep doing for 15-20min. At times I do keep towel dipped in hot water in order to oil to get inside the scalp but as I m using oils which are easily absorbed by the skin I normally avoid doing it.
I stay with my oiled hair for atleast 30min till then i do my other work too.
Then I shampoo with Dove Oil care Shampoo, I had tried many shampoo earlier but my hair fall had only increased so when I switched to Dove Oil care shampoo it gave me good result atleast I dnt have much hair fall now.
Mostly I apply hair mask after shampoo so I have started using Fuller earth mixed with little neem powder( for dandruff). Fuller earth makes scalp clean and firm which causes less hair fall. Also once a week i apply amla powder, reetha powder and shikkakai powder as mask on my hair.
I keep mask on my hair atleast for 30 min after this i wash them and apply Dove Oil care conditioner. while doin dis i make sure dat i dnt mk my face wet. I have started using Dove oil hair mask once a week. Combo of these 3 things makes hair softer and shiny. I make sure dat i use herbal conditioner too as this would give hair natural texture and avoid the erosion of the natural oils from the hair.
I comb my hair only after my hair is totally dried while doing these all I keep in mind that i dnt overuse any of the stuffs that could hamper my hair.
Once a week I like to run dat sweet smelling smoke through my hair which makes them smell and feel good.
Again only using good shampoo and conditioner doesn’t help alone to maintain hair u need to have patience and have to work very much on them.

    shefali prasad

Well my perfect hair spa day happens when i am really tired and i need to relax. I create a very relaxing mood by burning as many lavender scented candles as possible, playing soft relaxing music and by chilling my room. Then begins my routine:

I heat half a cup of extra virgin olive oil and let it cool. When the oil is still slightly warm, I apply on scalp and hair. Basically oil massage of the scalp with fingertips with gentle circular motions. Next, I soak a clean towel into a bucket of warm water. Squeeze the towel to remove water. And then wrap it around my head, so the hair is covered by a towel. I leave the towel wrapped around my head for 10 to 15 minutes. This helps the oil get into the hair shaft.
After applying steam to my hair, the next step I do is to wash my hair with shampoo thoroughly. I rinse my hair with warm water. I wipe off excess water in the hair. Making sure that I do not rub my hair with a towel. This can make my hair rough up the cuticle and contribute to frizziness. Then I take a deep conditioner and apply it on to my hair, using a wide toothed comb. With deep conditioning, I protect my hair from frizziness. I leave the conditioner on your hair for 15 to 20 minutes. I then rinse my hair to remove the conditioner. Next I pat with a towel to dry and remove the water. Then comb my hair using a wide-toothed comb. After which I apply a hair mask to each section of hair. I make my hair mask by mixing banana, honey, yogurt and olive oil. I make sure that every hair is coated with this hair mask. Then I wrap my head with a warm towel for 10 to 15 minutes and then wash it off thoroughly with warm water.

After this routine I let my hair dry naturally without using heat. And vola! Shiny and silky hair with perfectly relaxed head and body.

    Meenakshi Kapur

    Hi

I pamper my hair a lot and wish to have long hair so I take care of them very regularly. I usually follow a hair care regime to pamper them, first, in night I apply oil in my hair and massage the scalp so that oil should reach the scalp and roots of my hair and nourish them, after oiling my hair, I tie scarf and sleep well, in morning I apply a shampoo and conditioner and wash my hair with water and then I apply a mixture in my hair, in a bowl I take around half cup of curd and in it I add a little mustard oil and whisk in well and after washing my hair with shampoo I apply this mixture in my hair and massage it properly and then gently wash it off with water and tie around a towel in wet hair and comb them properly and taaddddaaaa hair spa is done…
Also, occasionally I also put beaten eggs or shikakai and amla, for shikakai and amla I soak these in water overnight and then in morning after washing hair with shampoo and conditioner, I put the shikakai and amla soaked water in my hair and rinse it thoroughly, I use shikakai in summer to give coolness to scalp but it can be used in winters too like at once a week…Believe me, after using shikakai and amla hair gets soft, smoother and shikakai has a cooling effect on scalp and I feel that I am pampering my hair just like they get pampered in a hair spa 🙂

    MY HOME HAIR SPA IDEA:
Every Sunday(IN winters) is my spa day.. And really I want a proper environment and time. Spa is useless if you are not feeling relaxed after it.
    1. I just dim lights of the room and spray my favourite room freshner.
    2. Then I sit on a chair and request my grand maa to oil my hairs. She is the best when comes to hair massage, I don’t know what magic she has in Her hands I just love it.
I prefer a mix of olive, coconut oil and few drops of badam rogan in winters. And trust me the results are always magical.
    3. Then I steam my hair with a steamer or for about 10 mins. I usually add few drops of lavender oil in steamer.
    4. Then I relax for 2 hours to let hairs absorb the oil. In the mean time I listen to my favourite songs or read a magazine or cook something delicious.
    4. Then after 2 hours I wash my hairs with anti-dandruff shampoo and warm water. Conditioning, a most important step after it.
    5. Then I apply hair mask.
Hair mask- 1 egg, 2 spoons of yogurt and honey each.
Then cover it with a shower cap and let it rest for 1 hour.
Then I rinse off and flaunt my beautiful, silky and smooth hairs.

I AM REALLY EYEING UPON THIS HAMPER.. IT WILL FOR SURE TAKE MY SPA ON ANOTHER LEVEL.. HOPE I CAN NEXT TIME PAMPER MY TRESSES WITH IT..

    Precious Pearl

I usually follow these three steps during weekends. These really make my dry hair manageable.
-Massage scalp lightly with hot oil,
    -hot towel for 10 minutes
-Wash hair with luke warm water using a moisturizing shampoo and conditioner.

    along with this:
Any weekday I use mixture of curd + crushed fenugreek seeds on my scalp (keep it for 20 mins) and rinse it with warm water, followed with shampoo and conditioner. This gives shine to my hair and keep the scalp clean.

    Mansi

I have extremely frizzy and that is why i do hair spa at home 3 times in a month, i am a college student and cannot afford to spend so much every week.
    here is what i do:
I mix 2 vitamin E capsules with almond oil and apply this on my scalp and tips for about 3 hours.
Then i wrap a hot towel around my head for light steam. repeat this step 2-3 times for proper steam. I don’t have a steamer so i use towel.
Lastly i apply a hair pack. I mix egg, aloe vera pulp, lemon juice, curd and honey. Then apply this mixture for 30-45 minutes.
Tadaaa hair spa is done. I know it sounds tedious, but it’s super duper easy… only the last step is a bit difficult. But i still do this as this hair spa keeps my hair manageable, reduces hair fall and keeps them frizz free. 🙂

    Prerna Sinha

The first step is to oil and massage hair and scalp with almond oil and rosemary oil. It nourishes hair, controls hairfall and adds shine and bounce to the hair. Next step is to lightly steam your hair using a hot towel. Wrap the hair in the hot towel for 10-15 minutes. Next, I apply curd as a hair pack. I leave it on for 15 minutes and rinse it out with water before I shampoo. Finally, I shampoo and condition my hair and towel dry it. I let it air dry and the end result is healthy looking shiny hair.

I apply Dove Elixir oil to my hair and I nicely massage my head, such that the oil reaches the roots of my hair. The next day morning, I apply the white yolk of egg to my hair. I leave it for about half-an-hour. After that, I take a refreshing head bath using Dove shampoo. This is how I do a hair-spa at home!

We now venture out to expensive Spa’s, but have learnt the art of hair care from my mum at home.
Weekend used to be the spa day – beginning with a application of warm oil with camphor in circular motions targeting the roots.
A generous champi, with a comb to ensure oil spread well. With a hot towel the hair was given good steam.
A mild shampoo wash followed by conditions, and leave it to dry naturally gave my hair a bouncy and shining look !

Okay, this is really a tough one because I hardly do hair spas at home….but on days I really want to indulge, here’s how I do it:

    1. Burn some curry leaves in pure coconut oil
    2. Massgae the oil into scalp for some good 15-20 mins using fingertips.
    3. Use a battery operated head massager for some more 10 mins.
    4. Soak up a towel in warm water and wrap it as a head turban for 10 mins.
    5. Take off the towel and take a nap with a 30 mins alarm set on the phone.
6.Wake up, wash head with a color protect shampoo (because I currently have a hair color on!), and a color protect hair mask post shampoo for another 5 mins.
    7. apply some heat protectant leave on serum.
8.Blow dry my hair, and make a cup of ginger tea and relax while doing nothing else:)

I am sharing my complete Spa idea with you here that is an essential tool of relaxing the mind body and soul. i really like it for making my hairs fight with all odds of daily life. So when i am indulging my self in this beautiful experience, i would start with switching off the lights and blow a scented candle and playing some instrumental music like calming moments or garden of peace which actually allow to balance mind, body and soul.

Treating the head scalp with a good massage and i personally love to apply the mix of olive oil and almond oil to my hairs which is natural and so rich to nourish the hair roots. A good massage with fingertips in circular motion increase the blood circulation while treating the scalp and hair roots.

Steam the hairs with help of hot towel that allow your hairs and scalp to get the goodness of the oils.

And wash the tresses with shampoo. Conditioning the hairs is so essential after washing them. Apply a hair pack which is made with coconut oil and eggs. Let it strengthen your hairs and then wash off.

After showers, simply relax your body, mind and all senses. Sit in peace, close your eyes and recall the beautiful moments of life, Just listen to instrumental music like restoration or garden of Eden.

Have a taste buds treat and live this blissful time to rejuvenate completely.

So this is my simple but effective steps of creating a spa at home.
it’s something that almost every one can try and enjoy.

    1. Massage your scalp: This is the first step to start a hair treatment at home. Warn some coconut oil or olive oil. Massage your head with this. This increases blood circulation and boosts hair growth.

    2. Steam the hair: Dip a towel in warm water and squeeze the excess water out. Wrap the towel around the hair. This allows the oil to penetrate deep into the scalp. Do this for about 5-six minutes.

    3. Wash your hair: Now, wash the hair with a mild shampoo. Use only cold water as hot water is harmful to the hair roots.

    4. Apply conditioner: Post the shampooing, use a conditioner. You can also use the water of tea leaves to which a few drops of lime juice has been added. Or try a paste of grated beetroot to which hibiscus powder has been added. The hibiscus flower powder is a great base and is rich in iron and other vitamins. Rinse it off after half an hour with just warm water and no shampoo.

    5. Lastly, a hair mask: In a bowl, mix two eggs, honey and some coconut oil. You can add a ripe banana to this — banana is a softener. You can also use olive oil instead of coconut oil. Leave the mask on for 20 minutes, then rinse with a mild shampoo.

Hi…i used to apply many hair packs when i was a teenager as i always longed to have shiny long hair. My best home spa recipe is warm oil massage+ hot towel steam which is followed with washing my hair with shampoo and conditioner. My favorite conditioning recipe for hair is Mayo+olive oil+ egg white. But now as i am busy with my personal and professional life , i have very less time to actually pamper myself-however ever since i have used Dove elixir’s Hibiscus & Argan Oil, i am happy that my hair issues are majorly sorted. I use the oil regularly now and am probably the biggest fan of Dove Elixir, that’s the reason i really wish to win this product.
    Thanks 🙂

Rinse hair with a mixture of two tablespoons vinegar to one cup water, or one-quarter cup of lemon juice and one cup of water.
Use an alcoholic drink to create a drying effect on the hair. Mix a few tablespoons of alcohol with a cup of water, use to cleanse hair, and then rinse with water.
One-quarter cup of cider vinegar mixed with water can be used to create a spray that targets product build up.
Use diluted tea, which contains an astringent, to rinse your hair.

A Hair Spa for me means pampering my hair inorder to bribe it to become how it used to be… I regularly used to straighten my hair and many times I wudn’t use a heat protectant as a result of which my hair has become very dry and thin… :'(
    I do a hair spa twice a week….
Once a week I follow this routine(on Wednesdays):
First I apply Biotique Bio Bhringraj Hair Oil… It has really worked wonders for my hair. I apply it to my hair by gently massaging it into the scalp so that it gets absorbed easily. I leave it on for about 2 hours.
After this I wash it off using Matrix biolage hydrating shampoo and then i apply Loreal 3X Fall Repair Hair Conditioner.I leave it on for around 10 mins after which i wash it off.Make sure to apply conditioner only to the roots and not to the scalp….

Saturday night my Hair Spa process is:
I first create a hair mask using 2 eggs (white only) and 4 tablespoons olive oil.I mix both the ingredients together and then apply them to my hair. After this I wrap my hair in a hair cap.I leave this mask on for about an hour during which i play my favorite music and relax(After all it is the weekend!! 😀 ). Then I wash off the mask with slightly warm water (dont use very hot water as this dries the hair). Then I wash my hair with my matrix biolage shampoo and apply the loreal conditioner.I leave the conditioner on for 10 mins then rinse it off with cold water.

And that is how i do my Hair Spa…. 😀

Hair spa at home is a very good gift one can be given.

Massage, Steam and Pack are three main steps I would like to follow for my hair.

Massage – I want to take 2 spoons each of coconut oil, olive oil, almond oil, castor oil. I also will add a piece of camphor and warm up everything a little. Slowly apply this warmed oil through out the scalp and follow till the hair tip. Massaging in circular motion and all possible strokes is the main part here. This gives a relaxed feel.
Lighting up aroma candles definitely boosts the mood and energy. Massage for 20 minutes.

Steam – This is challenging to do at home. One thing is no body would have a saloon style steamer for hair at home. Either use the face steamer if you have. Or dip a thick cotton towel into hot water, squeeze it and wrap around the head. Once the towel cools, repeat again. Do this for 5 minutes. Follow this with slight head massage again.

Pack – The herbal hair packs are the best bet. I would go for a home made hibiscus hair pack for the silky shiny after effect that I want. Apply the pack and leave for half an hour.

Then wash with your fav shampoo. This is my idea of hair spa at home.

    Nithya

    Hi everyone, Happy December,
I have very thick black curly hair. It looks beautiful for everyone and I usually get compliments on it. But no one really knows the problems that I have to face handling it. Seriously I have a truck load of hair. There is one thing that I have never experienced or may be never realized- hairfall. I have so much hair that even if a handful falls daily, it will never be seen. But I know in a long run it is going to effect.

So for taking care of my care I wash it with shampoo once in a week after an over night oiling. After shampooing, my hair becomes rough and then I again have to apply oil to make it look normal. Then my mom suggested me this, Apply a paste of paste of the seeds of fenugreek to my hair before washing it, It behaves as a moisturizer and thus makes my curls look tamed. An other traditional way is using leaves of shoeflower and crushing them and using it on my hair instead of shampoo. Trust me, this is very helpful, there is no need of any conditioner after applying it on my hair and washing it thoroughly.
Occasionally, I apply apply curd after mixing it with water, before washing my hair.
A another thing which I do to my hair is-Although I hate the smell of this oil I apply it as it strengthens my hair. My mom mixes dried gooseberry, neem leaves and some other Ayurvedic plants and adds it to the coconut oil and heats it. The oil turns into black color because of the iron content in gooseberry. This oil has really helped me as it stopped my hairfall, made it stronger and gives a cooling effect on the scalp.
These are some of the hair spa that makes me happy as I feel I have no used any artificial ingredients or chemicals on my hair.
    Hope it works for everyone.
    Cheers!!!

    Hi, HAPPY DECEMBER everyone!!!

I have thick black curly hair.
I am usually complimented for it, but only I know the difficulties in handling it. Frankly speaking it is complicate to handle my hair.
Something that I have not been worried about is hairfall. I use to have so much of hair that even if a handful falls daily it would not effect the volume of my hair. But my mom then told me that it would effect me in the log run.

I usually wash my hair with shampoo after over night oiling. After shampooing my hair becomes very rough and hence again difficult to handle. I will then have to apply oil to tame my curls. That is when I started applying a paste of fenugreek seeds to my hair before washing it. There is no need to use any conditioner after using this.

Another traditional way which makes my hair soft and silky is applying a paste of shoeflower’s leaves. Trust me, this is the best conditioner ever. It can be used instead of shampoo.

An other thing that makes my hair stronger is the oil that I apply. Although I don’t like the smell of it, I use it for the benefits it gives. My mom mixes dried gooseberry, neem leaves and some other ayurvedic plants and puts it in hot oil. The color of the oil becomes black because of the iron content in the gooseberry. This oil has been proved very helpful for my hair.

I hope this works for everyone.
    Cheers!!!

The ingredients needed for preparing this hair oil are half cup each of olive oil and some rosemary leaves. Put them in a small saucepan and heat it at a low flame. Stir it continuously till the oil becomes warm. After that, remove it from the heat and strain out the rosemary leaves. The oil should be applied on the hair when it is still warm to the touch. Milk is a very good conditioner.Take some milk(preferably cold)and apply it with brush or using a spray bottle, comb your hair gently, wait for 30 minutes.Lightly wash your hair with mild or a baby shampoo.Do not use conditioner after shampoo as milk is a natural conditioner and leaves your hair.or
Apply yogurt mixed with an egg two hours on your hair before taking shower for shiny and healthy hair.

oil and massage hair with almond oil. Almond oil has vitamin E and D which is said to nourish hair, make it long and thick, control hair fall and add shine and bounce to your hair. Massage the oil well into your scalp. I Leave on overnight or for about 1-2 hours.
Next step would be to lightly steam your hair. Use a small handy steam machine to do so for a good 5 minutes. Ensure that you don’t feel any steam on your scalp. If you steam your hair properly, you won’t feel anything on your scalp. dip a towel in hot water and wrap it around your h. Do this 4-5 times. The last step would be to apply a hair pack.Mix fresh aloe vera pulp with a few drops of lemon juice and leave on for 15 minutes

    Rmyah

I usually have a homemade concoction with lavender, tea tree, rosemary, geranium essential oils in an olive oil base. A time consuming, irritating and messy process. But all these come in the Dove Elixir, I would love to try it….less messy, more productive 🙂

    Khushboo

Hostel hair spa in Rs. 20

    What do you need?

A comb (free, because you obviously own one!)
Hair oil (you can buy five small sachets worth Rs. 5 or use the big bottle like me, anyway it you won’t use a lot)
    A napkin (free)
    Some warm water (free)
And a sachet of dove shampoo and conditioner (Rs. 5)
    Egg (Rs. 5)
Yoghurt (Rs. 5 in my hostel)

How do you go about it?

First, heat some coconut oil till it is warm. Massage it on your head gently and let your blood circulate well. Next, take some warm water and dip a napkin in it. Place the napkin on your head for about 5 minutes and repeat this step a few times.

Relax for an hour or so till your hair has absorbed the oil

Apply a hair mask of egg whites (beaten) and half a bowl of yoghurt mixed well for about 30 minutes and then use Dove shampoo and conditioner to wash your hair.

Let your crowning glory dry naturally in the sun. (Hair dryers are a complete No!)

And since my hostel has a mini lake within the campus, I tend to steal a chair from the classroom and sit in the sun as I read my book!
