Colourpop ultra matte lip have taken the beauty world by storm ! I haven’t seen a single blogger who hasn’t bought one, except me, until last week. I was not interested in getting into the hassle of ordering stuff online and getting it delivered and then paying customs, so went ahead and placed an order via an instagram store (shopyouraddiction) . All the shades were in stock and I received my package in 3 days.

I tried and picked most talked about shades and ended up having 3 shades that are quite close to each other. Well can’t avoid it when looking up for swatches online, the whole research gets so confusing.

Packaging is simple, transparent tube with silver cap. Tube feel heavy and sturdy, so is the cap. Not cheap flimsy packaging which was surprising considering the amount one pays for each of these.

Shades – The shades I picked are –

Notion – Medium Berry Plum

Tulle   – Warm toned brown

Beeper – Pink toned brown (suitable for fair-medium skin tone)

Stingraye – Another plum , very close to Viper

Viper – shade quite identical to Stingraye

Barracuda – Red-brown

Lumiere2 – Pink Plum

Love Bug  – Rust

Texture & Formula – Colourpop Ultra Matte Lip have a smooth creamy texture which feels quite light weight on the lips. Consistency varies from shade to shade but overall these are quite easy to apply and don’t get patchy. The drying time is short, these set quickly, so better is to work on one lip first and then move on other, without pressing them together otherwise it may get patchy.

Formula is long wearing and matte, so it feels drying. But I don’t mind the drying part much since it survives a hurricane, believe me I have worn most of the shades already and all of them have 8-10 hours staying power without much fading. Once set the color doesn’t transfer or move.

Pigmentation – All the shades are very pigmented and give opaque finish in single stroke.

Staying Power – Like I mentioned most of them are very long wearing, stay upto 8-10 hours easily. Thats why I prefer wearing them during dinner parties or day long outings so that I don’t have to touch up the lip color.

Overall Thoughts

After buying these 8 shades I couldn’t stop myself from ordering 5 more. I am going to swatch rest of the shades soon in a separate post. If you are looking for a long wearing liquid lipstick that doesn’t crumble or crack then Colourpop Ultra Matte Lip is the best choice.
