How To Choose Wedding Saree Color – 5 Tips

5 Tips To Choose Wedding Saree Color

April is here and there will be weddings this season. As the mercury rises, more and more people are preferring winter weddings and I am not complaining! But winter or summer, wedding makes your heart skip a beat. Wait! Of course, only if you are party to it! 😉 I have not yet been tied in holy matrimony but I have seen my cousin going completely crazy about what to wear on the D-Day and what not to wear. Apparently she had a palette of her favourite colours but none seemed to be good enough for her wedding dress up! I have seen them struggle and have thought of dedicating an article to the would-be brides on ways to choose their wedding saree color. Here are the 5 Tips To Choose Wedding Saree Color

  1. First things first, lay down the list of colours that suit you/you love in front of you, then, cross out the colours you think will be too pale for a gaudy ceremony, like mint, lemon, grey, or flesh tint.
  2. Go for window shopping with your best mate. It does not harm to go for some discussion day-out in the late afternoon with your pal. Visit the various saree shops that sell wedding ensembles and find out what are in stores and what you liked. An afternoon of window shopping well take you leap forward to your decision.
  3. Now comes the time of sitting together with your friend-in-need and your mother and take their opinions: about what according to them should suit you best, and what are the colours they think are in this season. Of course there will be choices you like and others you don’t. But it is important to listen to what they say. I am more of a listening-to-myself person as I am pretty sure of what suits me. But even a fashionable mind can lose its cool due to the rush and chaos that define a wedding. So it is important to listen to those who has retained their calm, because, obviously it is not their wedding!
  4. After all the advice taking part is over, it finally is some me time, where these tips should come in handy:
  • Red obviously is a colour that suits everyone! But as we know there are many shades of red and each complexion has its complimentary red colour. If you are very fair to fair, tomato red/orange toned red that may also be called vermilion red look best. Crimson red can also be your pick if you are marrying in winter as it is a cool toned deep red. Scarlet red are best for medium toned/wheatish beauties. They add a pop of colour to the dressing complementing the wheatish complexion. Wine toned red/maroons look best on dark skinned ladies. It is very sophisticated and adds a lot of gravity to the dressing.
  • Pink is the new red. Fair skinned damsels can go for any pink they want. But it is best to avoid blue based pink on weddings as the colour has no royalty to it. Instead coral pinks can be opted. I love pink on medium skinned people! They rock this colour like no other. Fuchsia, rani and raspberry pinks should be on their list. Dusky beauties can go for purple based pink or deep magenta pink.
  • If blue seems to lure you, then navy blue, royal blue/turquoise blue and indigo blue are the best colours for fair, medium skinned and dark complexions respectively.
  • Orange has proved to be one hot wedding colour! If you are not really a red fan (like me!) then orange can give you the same glamour with a quirky touch to it. Bright coral orange or fiery sunset orange compliment fair skin tones. Muted orange or rust should be the pick of medium skinned beauties. Dark complexioned beauties should go for brick orange or burnt orange with bright gold work.
  1. Finally go for some trials and testing at a wedding saree store. Find out which colour brings out the best in you.

Above points will help you choose your wedding saree colour for sure. No matter at which rate the colour palette expands, some colour will never lose their importance in our life, for even among colours there is a queen and a king!
