Foundation is a skin colored base makeup applied to the face to create an even, uniform color to the complexion, to cover flaws. Some foundations also function as a moisturizers, sunscreens or base layer for more complex makeup.

Applying a right foundation shade changes the entire makeup. Either it’s going to stand you out in the crowd or put you down. It’s kind of a hit or miss thing. Applying foundation doesn’t mean to change the tone or the color of your skin. 5 Easy Steps To Choose Right Foundation Shade Online

  1. First up, it’s very important to know your skin type. While searching a foundation it’s best to know your skin type. Foundations are formulated for oily, dry, mature, normal, sensitive skin. Do not forget that, women’s skin type changes with the weather & other factors. In winter, it might be dry, while in summer it might be oily. Also, lots of women actually have combination skin, which means they are oily in the T-zone and dry everywhere else. so, If you have Oily skin then , look for  “oil-free,” “oil-control” or “mattifying” foundations, Even a powdered and stick  foundation can work for you.

-Girls with dry skin should look for a foundation which can provide the moisture and hydration. Hence, they should opt for cream, oil based or liquid foundation.  Foundations containing glycerin glide on easily.
-For combination skin, determine whether you belong to oilier or drier side. Cream-to-powder bases work great for combination skin. Mineral foundations work well on all skin types, especially sensitive skin.
Mature, aging skin can also benefit from foundations formulated for that skin type.

  1. Next up, know your skin tone. Usually girls/women fall under three skin tones which could further be broken down into numerous ones but the basic three are Cool Toned, Warm Toned and Neutral. Mostly Indian women fall under the category of Warm or neutral Tone. Most likely, cool tone foundations are not really going to sort your ideal foundation picture. Thus look for the color that disappears when applied on the skin or the one that is closest to your skin tone. Warm toned foundations are on yellow side while cool toned foundations more pink, neutral have beige tone.
  2. Look for the product reviews that users provide on the website for a better understanding of the product and the shade.
  3. If confused between the two shades or unable to find the true match for yourself then worry not. Try to buy a shade lighter. Because it’s easy to turn a lighter shade into a closed matched shade by adding a bronzer, a concealer or an eye shadow powder. You can always play around with the products and do mix and match thing always.
  4. Last but not the least; do not rush to buy a product just by scrolling the image of the foundation provided on the website.  Always compare the products and read the information and description carefully to clear your doubts and then buy right foundation shade. It’s important to know the product you are going to apply on your face rather than buying it blindly.

    Hi
    I need some help
I have normal to combination oily skin type..basically i sweat a lot in summers..But winters i m ok. Also within a few hours, my forehead and nose start to shine making my skin look too oily.
I have been using lakme absolute mattreal skin natural mousse in the shade golden medium since almost 2 years. I am very happy with this product.
I wanted to try something new this time n so I purchased Revlon colorstay makeup in the shade natural tan, which by Mistake i got for the dry skin. now the color makes me look darker. I even checked swatching both the foundations on my skin n the color differs.
What can I do to make the Revlon foundation work?
Should I buy another one in a lighter shade to Mix it up?
Or is it that the formula hasn’t suited to skin n it is oxidizing?
    Please help
