Chanel La Raffinee (34) Rouge Allure Velvet Lipstick (Rs 2550)
Sometimes it happens that you enter a store for buying A and come out with B. This is what happened with me the last time I was at Chanel store. I went in to check out La beige compact, and came out with Chanel La Raffinee (34) Rouge Allure Velvet Lipstick. During summers I only apply a light layer of compact powder and a dash of a neutral lipstick which is more than enough. I have Chanel Antigone Rouge Coco Shine and always wanted to own one from Rouge Allure Velvet. Picking No 34 was the wisest decision I ever made because one tends to wear neutrals more than any other shade most of the times.
Shade – Chanel La Raffinee is a beautiful dusty pink which works as MLBB shade for me (my lips but better). This shade would compliment most of the skintones and a perfect everyday shade for medium-deeper complexion.
Texture & Formula – Texture of this lipstick is matte but no difficult to work with. It glides on easily and feels velvety on lips. Due to its matte texture , formula does feel drying on the lips and I have to make sure that my lips are well moisturized and exfoliated before hand else it highlights dry patches.I was expecting a texture that is easy to apply and blend , but this gets a bit crumbly which is a bit of disappointment.
Finish isn’t flat matte but more on the satin side. I can see a bit of sheen though it settles into matte finish after a while.
Pigmentation – Chanel La Raffinee is quite pigmented and evens out my lips in 2-3 strokes. It covers lip discoloration/ uneven tone immediately.
Staying Power – Chanel La Raffinee stays on for good 5-7 hours and fades evenly.
downside would be drying texture, I know matte formulas are generally drying, but I wasn’t expecting it to be crumbly or accentuate dry lips/ lip lines.
Overall Thoughts
Chanel La Raffinee (34) Rouge Allure Velvet Lipstick is a beautiful dusty pink which works as a perfect neutral shade for me. I like the packaging and finish of the lipstick. However its not as matte as I expected it to be. Also the formula tends to highlight the dry flaky lips.
