Banila Co Clean it Zero Makeup Remover Review Photos

Banila Co has a full range of these Clean it makeup removers that they term as “sherbet-like balms” for different uses.  Zero is for Zero impurities, Zero oiliness, Zero irritation, Zero dryness and Zero inconvenience.  It is a deep cleaning gel balm that goes one like a balm and then transforms into a silky oil that effortlessly dissolves makeup and sunscreen.  Banila Co Clean it Zero Makeup Remover has papaya, acerola and herbal extracts that deep cleanse without drying.

Packaging : The rather large makeup remover comes in a plastic jar with a pink screw on lid. There is an inner lid that holds a spatula for scooping out makeup remover to use.  I actually wish this was in a squeeze tube as this texture would have worked a lot better in that form.

I also find that you can’t take out a lot at one go and slap it on your face, you need to take small scoops and work your way, thereby meaning that you will dip into the tub more than once in the removal process.  Using a spatula over and over again makes it a bit inconvenient and in find that I dip my fingers in, sometimes with the earlier makeup on.Banila Co Clean it Zero Makeup Remover Review Photos

Texture & Formula: The description of Sherbet-like is a little off in my opinion.  It feels much more like a gel than a sherbet to me.  The gel then turns into oil like substance that feels a lot dryer than ordinary oil.  It goes on very easily and the heat from your fingers makes it “melt” into oil.

A great use for a makeup remover such as this, is for travel.  I find that travelling with a bottle of bi-phase remover can sometimes result in leaks and spills in the makeup bag.  With a balm remover there is no risk of spillage.Banila Co Clean it Zero Makeup Remover Review Photos

Usage & Experience : I find this a little challenging to use.  Though they say it is not oily, I find that the balm like texture makes my skin feel greasy and I cannot simply use a tissue to remove the residue.  I need to wash off immediately.  I also find that I need to be very very careful when it comes to taking off eye makeup as it does get into the eyes and I need to wash my eyes immediately.

Overall it does clean the makeup completely but I guess I’m used to the bi-phase removers and find them a lot easier to use.

Overall Thoughts

Banila Co Clean it Zero would work beautifully for women with dryer complexions.  My oily skin doesn’t tolerate the balm type of texture well in most products.  I don’t think that’s a indication of the effectiveness of the product, just something that doesn’t do well for my skin.  I still have this on my dresser – in the hope that when Mumbai gets cooler, I may find better use for this.
